With the 2020 National portfolio of events and championships postponed due to COVID, HWA have developed two unique event concepts that will provide our fans an opportunity to see the very best of our pathway athletes as well as the Hockey Australia High Performance athletes in competition at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University. Sunday 11 October 2020 Hockey WA All-Star Challenge The very best players representing our north of the river clubs will battle it out against their south of the river counterparts in a mouth watering contest. The players will be selected by a HWA and Hockey Australia led Selection Panel including current Perth Thundersticks coaches, Stephen Davies and Kate Starre and will include current Kookaburra and Hockeyroos squad members. The following Clubs will all be vying for individual player representation: TEAM NORTH TEAM SOUTH WESTSIDE WOLVES OLD AQUINIANS (men only) UNIVERSITY OF WA VICTORIA PARK HALE MELVILLE YMCC WESLEY SOUTH PERTH OLD GUILDFORDIANS MUNDARING FREMANTLE COCKBURN (men only) WHITFORDS (men only) CURTIN UNIVERSITY SUBURBAN LIONS (women only) NORTH COAST RAIDERS (women only) COACH: DES KING & ROB HAMMOND COACH: ANTHONY POTTER & CALE WALSH COACH: KATIE ALLEN & EMILY HALLIDAY COACH: STEPH ANDREWS & KOBIE MCGURK Starting the day’s proceedings will see a return in 2020 of the Hotspurs’ Men’s and Women’s teams as they go head to head with Masters’ All Stars teams featuring some of the State’s best master’s players. Sunday 25 October – Sunday 01 November 2020 The Ric Charlesworth Classic In it’s inaugural year, the Ric Charlesworth Classic is a post season competition attracting the best players, coaches and officials in the state. Hockey WA’s Premier League Competiton boasts a plethora of high quality talented players whose base is embedded into our member club structure. Whilst the Classic is being developed to provide much needed and deserved content for our aspiring and established players as a result of the interuptions caused by COVID, the ambition is for this event to become cemented in our portfolio for many years to come and continue to provide a wonderful platform for athlete selection into HWA’s state and high performace teams, inlcuding the Perth Thundersticks. What are the numbers? ▪ 4 Club/Entities will be developed ▪ Each Club/Entity will comprise of 1 men’s and 1 women’s team (8 teams in total) ▪ Each team will play 3 rounds, before a finals round meaning a total of 16 matches ▪ Each team will comprise 18 players How will we Draft our players? Premier League players will nominate for consideration in the Ric Charlesworth Classic Player Draft to be held on the evening of the All-Star Challenge matches on Sunday 11 October. Each Classic Team coach will select in turn from the draft players nominated, until such time as the team reaches their allocation of 18. Each team within a Club will consist of 2 Goal Keepers and 16 Field Players. .

HOCKEY ONE – ADELAIDE FIRE - MEDIA RELEASE NEW NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE TO PLAY ACROSS AUSTRALIA IN A 48 GAME SCHEDULE The fixture for Australia’s new national hockey competition, Hockey One League, has been released, revealing a 49-day season with 21 double header home and away event days plus finals. The league will feature Australia’s best hockey players competing in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Brisbane and Sydney. The cream of Australian hockey will be fighting for a place on the podium in the inaugural Hockey One League from Sunday the 29th of September, according to Hockey One League Interim General manager, Tony Dodemaide. The Adelaide Fire Coaches & Squads (Names to be released soon) are rearing to get going for their 1st game in Sydney on the 29th of September. Then extremely excited to host their 1st home game here at the State Hockey Centre on the 13th of October. It was be a full house, so be sure to sign up for your memberships as soon as they are live, team membership packages will be available via Ticketek as from this Thursday July 11th. According to Hockey SA CEO Peter Churack “I am very excited that Hockey SA is to be part of the new national hockey competition the Hockey One League with our teams the Adelaide Fire. Once again the school will be at Monday 01 February 2021 capacity for next year with the assistance of a new demountable First Day of Term 1 classroom. Over the holidays there will be a considerable amount of maintenance and refurbishment work which will result in an improved working and learning environment. Monday 08 February 2021 P&C Meeting 7.00PM Staffing There are a number of staff changes for 2021. Mrs Susan Reid is going on long service leave for the first half of next year and Mr Josh Londt is looking to get back into engineering. Mr Nick Latella will be moving on to make way for the return of Ms Daine Lander who is returning from maternity leave. Ms May Hishmeh is leaving to do a PhD at Notre Dame University. Ms Sam Cadee will be taking maternity leave from the beginning of next year for the birth of her daughter in February. Mr Julian Wilmot is transferring to Melville SHS. Ms Emily Davis is moving down to Busselton and will take up the position of dance teacher at Naturaliste College. Mrs Leonie Kellie will be returning to Gilmore College and Mrs Kate Reid has received a promotion to Bob Hawke College. We welcome Miss Jacqueline Kolman who joined us a couple of weeks ago to replace Ms Reid.

Trent made his senior international debut in May 2010 and has gone on to represent Australia in over 100 International matches. He is a key attacker, playing in his preferred position as a forward / striker he has scored over 50 goals in his International career to date. After taking up hockey at the age of 5, Trent progressed quickly, playing representative hockey at Under 18 and Under 21 age levels before going on to play for the Australian junior team when he was 18 years old. He was a member of the National Development Squad for only 6 months before making the breakthrough to the National Senior Squad in 2010 at the age of 19. Trent has mentioned on number occasions that he feels extremely fortunate to be able to travel around the world playing the sport he loves.
