Lumpini Park is a popular oasis, named after Buddha's birthplace. The green expanse provides a relaxing and relatively peaceful retreat from the heat and noise of the rest of the city. The best time to arrive is just after sunrise, when hordes of fitness fanatics can be spotted jogging, doing aerobics, practicing tai chi, yoga or even ballroom dancing! Built to commemorate the queen's 60th birthday in 1992, it officially opened in the end of 1996 and is a part of the Chatuchak Park by One World Thailand Complex. Located a few steps away from the famous , this beautifully landscaped botanical garden is a great place to stroll or relax. Fountains, water lilies and lotuses adorn the picture-perfect Lotus and Water Lily Yard, while the Tree Garden which comprises trees from the 76 provinces of Thailand will stun you with its layout of the country's map. The Palm and Bamboo groves also give insight on the various variants of these trees.
