This relationship has also informed superhero comics themselves – going all the way back to Superman’s debut in Action Comics 1 (June 1938). As DC President Paul Levitz says of the development of the superhero: ‘There was an enormous desire to see social justice, a rectifying of corruption. Superman was a fulfillment of a pent-up passion for the heroic solution’ (quoted in Poniewozik 2002: 57). I have come to understand that the Jetthiopian Paleo- Tetragrammaton ( yhwh =JEWE) that was discovered on the Mesha Stele or the Moabite Stone around 1869 AD was in fact the original one, and it was not just four letters that you add other letters too to compose the Orijahnator’s name, but it was in fact the full name of the Orijewnator’s name which is JEWE . The final letter in the name can be silent at times therefore leaving the root word ‘ JEW,’ and this full name can be compounded with other words to give different meanings such as, ‘JEW-EL ’ ( Jew is mighty) or ‘JEW-O-SHA-WAH ,’ ( Jew is Salvation ) etc. With the ‘ E’s’ interchangeable with ‘ A’s’ in the name it can be rendered JAWE or JAWA and with the silent ‘H’ added we get JAHWEH and JAHWAH and with ‘OSHA ’ added we get JAHOSHAWEH or JAHOSHAWAH and with ‘ L’ added to the name ‘JEWE’ we get the name ‘JEWEL’ and is not the Orijewnator a precious JEWEL ? Recycling the Other: The Role of Nostalgia in Superhero Comics’ Orientalism Nao Tomabechi Abstract Whiteness has been one of the core ideals in American mainstream superhero comics, but in recent years, with demands for diversity increasing, more than ever, racial minorities have leading roles in superhero comics. However, the struggle for Asians in the superhero genre is not entirely gone. The number of appearances may have increased, but stereotypes do persist. Japanese characters in superhero comics, for instance, whether they are heroes or villains, are still forced to display their Otherness, even in recent works. In this paper, by using Wolverine’s adventures set in Japan and the Japanese superhero Katana from DC Comics as examples, I argue that Asians in contemporary superhero comics are still contained within the grasps of Orientalism, and that nostalgia plays a significant role in that containment. Keywords: Orientalism, nostalgia, racism, continuity, diversity Introduction As many scholars and fans have already pointed out, whiteness has been one of the core ideals in American mainstream superhero comics.1 From DC Comics’ Superman and Batman to Marvel’s Captain America and Iron Man, the most famous and popular superheroes, as well as supervillains, have always been predominantly white. In recent years however, with increasing demands for diversity, this focus on whiteness has been highly questioned and criticized. Consequently, more than ever, racial minorities have leading roles in superhero comics. Miles Morales, the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe, is a mixed-race teenager, and the African Black Panther is now extremely popular after the successful film released in 2018. -

22. MEL PATRICK The author of this site and the book "Egocentricity and spirituality" is not a guru, an enlightened being, a Jivanmukti or a Jnani (a realized person who holds sacred knowledge). He teaches nothing nor organizes sessions of meditation and Satsang (talks about spirituality and non-duality). He isn’t more or less "awakened" than anybody else when he doesn’t sleep in the arms of Morpheus. He doesn’t claim to be free from anything and doesn’t think to have realized the Self. He doesn’t live in Nirvana or in a world of non-duality, and even less in a fourth dimension of pure consciousness or in heaven, but on earth as all other human beings. He’s actually a very normal and ordinary human being and not God, the Self, the universal consciousness, stillness or an ocean of bliss. He writes to share his experience with other seekers of truth and what is according to him good for humanity. As a matter of fact, he is a seeker of truth and that’s why he doesn’t hesitate to denounce the delirious abuses of spirituality (especially in the non-duality circles) that we can witness today in the West. His initiation with Swami Girdanandaji from Uttarkashi and study of Advaita Vedanta with Mr. Brahma Chaitanya from Gangotri enable him to have a relatively clear idea of what is meant by the term "non-duality". And it’s precisely this subject that he wishes to introduce to the reader, subject based on an experience he has lived and very clearly described in the section "Experience" dated the 4/2/2012. -

Limits, Malice and the Immortal Hulk
https://lthj.qut.edu.au/ LAW, TECHNOLOGY AND HUMANS Volume 2 (2) 2020 https://doi.org/10.5204/lthj.1581 Before the Law: Limits, Malice and The Immortal Hulk Neal Curtis The University of Auckland, New Zealand Abstract This article uses Kafka's short story 'Before the Law' to offer a reading of Al Ewing's The Immortal Hulk. This is in turn used to explore our desire to encounter the Law understood as a form of completeness. The article differentiates between 'the Law' as completeness or limitlessness and 'the law' understood as limitation. The article also examines this desire to experience completeness or limitlessness in the work of George Bataille who argued such an experience was the path to sovereignty. In response it also considers Francois Flahault's critique of Bataille who argued Bataille failed to understand limitlessness is split between a 'good infinite' and a 'bad infinite', and that it is only the latter that can ultimately satisfy us. The article then proposes The Hulk, especially as presented in Al Ewing's The Immortal Hulk, is a study in where our desire for limitlessness can take us. Ultimately it proposes we turn ourselves away from the Law and towards the law that preserves and protects our incompleteness. The law is a limit in the sense of determining what is permitted and what is proscribed, but the authority for this limit is often said to derive from something unlimited. -

Comic books have rarely been treated as a serious art form or cultural phenomenon. It used to be that creating a comic book would be considered shameful or something done only as side work. Beginning in the 1990s, some comic creators were able to leverage enough cultural capital to influence more media. In the post-9/11 world, generic elements of superheroes began to resonate with audiences; superheroes fight against injustices and are able to confront the evils in today’s America. This has created a billion dollar, Oscar-award-winning industry of superhero movies, as well as allowed created comic book careers for artists and writers.
