JANASANYOG, ASSAM CHIEF MINISTER’S PUBLIC RELATIONS CELL, DISPUR PRESS RELEASE --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No 324/2019 Sonowal attends annual conference of Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar CM urges people to act responsibly to strengthen border security Dispur, July 27: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today urged the people of the state to share the responsibility with the armed forces in safeguarding the national border and act responsibly to strengthen border security. The Chief Minister made this call while taking part at the inaugural session of Assam State Conference of Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar (SCMP), which was held at Royal Global University premises in Guwahati today. SCMP is a socio-cultural and non-political organisation committed to promote patriotism and nationalism amongst people living in the international border areas of the north east region. The two day conference beginning today was participated by around 700 delegates from the border districts of Assam. Chief Minister Sonowal while appreciating the initiatives of SCMP to induce the sense of patriotism amongst people living in the border areas said that the border people face many challenges in their day to day life. Therefore the initiatives taken by SCMP to bring those people closer to the mainstream has been successful in generating immense positivity in the society, he said. Underlining the need for regular interaction and exchange of ideas with the border people, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the people to give outmost importance to national security and delivering services to the people. He also highlighted various innovative measures taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build up confidence of the people living in the border areas as well as to ensure their security and economic growth. The Chief Minister while lauding the initiatives of SCMP also urged the organisation to generate more awareness amongst the people living in border areas on anti-social and illegal activities being carried out through the inter-state and international borders so that same could be prevented in future. Chief Minister Sonowal also released a souvenir titled “Seemanta-19” on the occasion. Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Yanthungo Patton, all India convenor of SCMP A Gopala Krishnan, North East Zone Pracharak of RSS Ulhas Kulkarni and President of reception committee Pradip Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
