Jay Meagher, C.A.S JAY MEAGHER, C.A.S. Production Sound Mixer Member, IATSE 695 & 479 Jay Meagher began his Sound Mixing career early when he owned a touring concert sound company in Virginia and a movie project in the area called his office asking if they knew anyone that does production sound. Having answered the phone, Jay said yes, of course. He hadn’t done location sound but as a quick learner, he immediately learned everything he could, got an interview and landed the job! The show went smoothly and thirty years later Jay still loves production sound and works with many Academy Award winning Actors, acclaimed Directors and Producers. Jay loves the collaborative process of filmmaking and the challenge of getting great sound in difficult conditions. He is a self admitted perfectionist and enjoys hearing his work on the finished project and being satisfied with the end result. As a member of both Locals 695 and 479, Jay is able to work Los Angeles and Atlanta local. Synopsis II. Director’s Statement III. Bios IV. Credits 3 Synopsis Lucy Stanbridge has inherited her father’s boutique publishing house, and the ambitious would-be editor has nearly sunk it with failing YA titles and bad reviews. When she discovers the company is owed a book by Harris Shaw, a reclusive, cantankerous, booze-addled author who originally put the company on the map, she looks to him for one last stab at salvation, both commercial and critical. Her timing couldn’t be more perfect. Harris owes money and he happens to have a new book - which he hates. Lucy’s ecstatic until she finds out Harris’s old contract stipulates that no one edit his work. However, in exchange, he must tour the book. And so is born the book tour from hell - where fame doesn’t equal fortune, twitter followers don’t add up to shit, and the legacy you’re trying to uphold might be born out of lies the past can’t contain. 4 A Q&A with Director Lina Roessler Tell us about the movie. How would you describe the film in just a couple of sentences? Best Sellers is an odd couple road movie.

CASSIAN ELWES TO LAUNCH CROWDFUNDED PRODUCTION COMPANY MOVIE COLLECTIVE Submitted by: Orchid PR Thursday, 12 April 2018 One of Hollywood’s most prolific independent producers seeks to democratise Hollywood Leading independent film producer Cassian Elwes has announced a brand new crowdfunding film venture, Movie Collective, inviting fans to invest in a slate of upcoming film projects and help democratise Hollywood. Until now, the studios and powers have shied away from opening up finance opportunities to the masses, instead focusing on traditional avenues of banks, pre-sales and large private equity investors. Having been involved with over 450 films, Cassian Elwes is arguably the most experienced producer in the independent film industry, and is now looking to challenge the status quo by calling on members of the public, from film buffs to high net worth investors to the first-time backers, to join his team and help bring more independent films to the big screen. Movie Collective, a joint venture with self-distribution expert and independent filmmaker Marcus Markou, is unlike conventional crowdfunding campaigns offered by the film industry and aims to disrupt the norm. The principle is simple; finance raised during the forthcoming Crowdcube campaign will be used to produce Movie Collective’s slate of films, with shareholders investing from as little as £10. It is the intention of the company to pay prospective profits as a dividend to equity stakeholders, with remaining profits used to help finance other projects on the slate. The first Movie Collective project, feature film Utopia Road, has been greenlit and is expected to shoot this summer.

Triple 9 (2016). Directed by John Hillcoat [film]. USA. Worldview Entertainment and Anonymous Content. Atlanta, Georgia. Word count: 1491 Reviewed by Susanna Menis, School of Law, Birkbeck, University of London, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HX, [email protected] Abstract: This film review addresses the social perception of crime as represented in this crime film. Although a ‘popcorn movie’, it exemplifies a number of socio-criminological concerns. The review critically considers the role of the heroes and the nature of the outlaws within a context of police corruption. The review argues that not only does the film reflect stereotypical understandings of certain social groups, but its complete elimination of all the ‘bad’ characters reveals the ease with which our society is prepared to dispose of certain individuals. Key words: crime films, heroes, organised crime, police corruption, marginalised social groups 1 Triple 9 (2016). Directed by John Hillcoat [film]. USA. Worldview Entertainment and Anonymous Content. Triple 9 is an expression which stands for ‘an officer down’, implying that a police officer has been shot and therefore all police units need to attend the scene. This does not reveal, however, that the film is really about police corruption. In Atlanta, Georgia, a crew of five gang men – including two police officers – are collaborating with the Russian Mafia to retrieve files which will allow the early release from prison of the Russian Mafia boss. This is done through a heist in which a police officer is shot on the other side of town, allowing the rest of the crew to complete the robbery while all police units attend the 999 call.

  • Steven Price
STEVEN PRICE COMPOSER Steven Price is an Academy Award winning film composer. His unique, story-driven approach to the craft of film scoring has seen him work on some of the most innovative productions of recent years. From Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity to Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Steven’s individualistic scores seek to enhance the ideas and images of great filmmakers in truly bespoke ways. Steven’s diverse music reflects the wide range of movie and television projects he has been involved with. Beginning his career in the late 1990s, he contributed to productions such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Batman Begins, before making his scoring debut in 2011 with Joe Cornish’s inner-city horror comedy, Attack the Block. Recent years have seen him compose distinctive scores for Claire McCarthy’s reimagining of Hamlet, Ophelia, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and the Paramount Animation Wonder Park. From his incorporation of original WW2 tanks in the percussion of the Brad Pitt starring Fury to the wind instrument driven score created for Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, the music created for each production seeks to give each story its unique voice, the result of an experimental and collaborative process. His work in the Natural History realm, working alongside Sir David Attenborough on The Hunt, (for which Steven won a Bafta), and the Netflix Original Our Planet, (nominated for two score Emmys), will continue in 2020 with a new live arena spectacular, Our Planet Live in Concert, the premiere for which will be held at London’s O2 Arena in October 2020.
