The nearby towns of Faversham and Sittingbourne and Maidstone have good road links via the M2 and M20, high speed rail services to London St Pancras, and direct links to the City and Victoria. All three towns offer a wide variety of shopping, dining, leisure and recreational facilities including educational facilities and grammar schools. The Cathedral City of Canterbury is only 17 miles away where you will find a wider range of facilities. The Channel Tunnel is only 30 miles away and Ebbsfleet International 26 miles which also give connections to the Continent. Our Time Here The Coach House is situated at the edge of one of the loveliest villages in Kent next to Milstead Manor. We have lived here for 15 years and brought our children up enjoying walks in the woods with the dogs, watching the cricket on warm sunny days and appreciating the peace and quiet that village life brings. The woods are awash with bluebells in the spring and it is an honour to be able to walk through them knowing that this is part of ‘your’ village. The very successful Milstead Cricket Team have one of the most picturesque cricket clubs in England and are always seeking new players to join their happy team. So, if you are a budding Ian Botham… Milstead is in the catchment area for Fulston Manor School, a secondary school which is worthy of its ‘Good’ Ofsted report. With approximately 900 parents putting this school down as first or second choice for Year 7 admissions, it is a huge bonus knowing that there is safety in getting a place for your child if he/she does not want to go to the Grammar Schools in Sittingbourne. Our home is warm and inviting and we have spent many hours over the years hosting dinner parties for friends and family in the large dining room and lounge. The bedrooms are fantastic sizes and perfect for growing families. Our home has more storage than a normal family would need – it’s amazing how much four people can amass over the years though! However, our children have flown the Milstead nest now and the time is right for us to downsize. The Coach House, and Milstead, will always hold a bit of our hearts forever. Whoever buys our home isn’t just buying bricks and mortar. They will be buying into a lifestyle. Old fashioned country life, friendly neighbours, a fabulous pub, excellent primary school and a home to love which will love you back. We are sad to be saying goodbye to a home that has meant so much to us but looking forward to our next adventure. Davis (N.G.R. TQ 667602). This personal seal pendant probably originally belonged to a merchant or trader and the suggested date is thirteenth- or fourteenth- century. The protrusion at the top of the seal would have had a loop for its suspension. The central design is of a wheel of eight lines with a cross at the end of each and the inscription reads 'S. Ricardo Fil Walkelin'. The name Walkelin, also Wakelyn, Walkelyn and Walkelen was not uncommon in Kent, eleven examples being mentioned in Archaeologia Cantiana, of which the earliest and most distinguished is Bishop Walkelin of Rochester, who died in A.D. 1098.
