Dear resident

Leyton Sports Ground – work taking place this week

I am writing to share with you some exciting news about Leyton Sports Ground.

Waltham Forest Council is joining forces with the England and Wales Board (ECB) to transform Leyton Cricket Ground into a world-class cricket hub. This will play host to professional matches as well as provide local residents with even more opportunity to get involved with sport. The Leyton County Ground Main Sports Hall will be fully refurbished in time for this summer’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will allow the ECB to capitalise on the tournament and promote the new centre while interest in cricket is at a peak. Work on the site is due to start by the end of January when hoardings will be erected to make the site secure. Access to the site will be from Brewster Road which unfortunately means the parking bays outside numbers 39 to 43 will be suspended to give vehicles enough space to enter. The time of deliveries and work on the site will be regulated to minimise inconvenience to residents. We are aiming for the first phase of work to be completed by the end of April 2019 and phase 2 by October and would ask for your patience between now and then. If particular problems do occur please contact me and I will do my best to resolve them. You can find out more about future plans for Leyton Sports Ground, and sign up for the email newsletter which will contain news about the projects, at walthamforest.gov.uk/LeytonCricketGround I am sure you will welcome this investment as much as we do as it means the historic cricket links of this site will continue into the foreseeable future.

Yours faithfully

Joyce Guthrie Head of Sport and Leisure Families and Homes
