Review quote

The Gardener's World favourite shares 50 years of his gardening experience with readers in this easy to digest gardening book which covers a myriad subjects including shrubs, containers, pests and compost, to growing your own edibles and useful pointers on what to do in each month of the year. In his gentle, easy way, he encourages gardeners to coax the best from their plot and how to delight in the process. -- Hannah Stephenson * The i newspaper * Practical month-by-month advice on gardening from a popular gardener with years of hands-on experience. * Gardens Illustrated * A beauty of a book... The chapters are short and clearly marked for quick references when needed and there's an ever so handy monthly guide at the back. It's full with beautiful photographs too which I think are nearly as important as the words. * Lavender and Leeks blog * This book, with its beautifully framed images from the author's own garden, is lyrical with wit and wisdom as it takes the reader through the year, offering practical and sometimes unexpected advice. * RTE Guide * What we loved most is that it is like a conversation with Monty as he takes you through his thoughts on many aspects of gardening... highly recommended! * Hot Brands Cool Places * Down to Earth is a pleasure to dip into and would make a satisfying read on days when work in the garden has been curtailed by fading light or cold. * English Garden * Unrivalled gardening wisdom from Monty Don, including essential tips, knowledge and musings from his 50 years of horticultural experience * Daily Telegraph * The book is a potboiler of his [Monty Don's] wisdom * Sunday Times * Down to Earth... is a lovely read, and although it contains all you could wish to know about the eternal verities of mulching, pruning, composting, growing and planting in every type of garden, its central message is that gardening is the secret to living well. * Sunday Telegraph *
