Created under RINGO’s personal supervision, this new set contains new multi-channel mixes of his hand-picked favorite solo tracks from 2003’s RINGO RAMA and 2005’s CHOOSE LOVE. These tracks were produced by RINGO and MARK HUDSON. The 2 Disc CD set will contain stereo versions of these new mixes and will playable on all CD players. A DVD-Audio Disc edition of this set will feature the full all-new 5.1 channel mixes. The DVD Disc includes audio content only and plays on all DVD players. John Lennon – Steel and Glass - Walls And Bridges ‘74 Much like “How Do You Sleep” three years earlier, this is another blistering Lennon track that sets its sights on Allen Klein (who had contributed lyrics to “How Do You Sleep” those few years before). The Beatles - Revolution 1 - The Beatles 2 The first song recorded during the sessions for the “White Album.” At the time of its recording, this slower version was the only version of John Lennon’s “Revolution,” and it carried that titled without a “1” or a “9” in the title. Recording began on May 30, 1968, and 18 takes were recorded. On the final take, the first with a lead vocal, the song continued past the 4 1/2 minute mark and went onto an extended jam. It would end at 10:17 with John shouting to the others and to the control room “OK, I’ve had enough!” The final six minutes were pure chaos with discordant instrumental jamming, plenty of feedback, percussive clicks (which are heard in the song’s introduction as well), and John repeatedly screaming “alright” and moaning along with his girlfriend, Yoko Ono. Ono also spoke random streams of consciousness on the track such as “if you become naked.” This bizarre six-minute section was clipped off the version of what would become “Revolution 1” to form the basis of “Revolution 9.” Yoko’s “naked” line appears in the released version of “Revolution 9” at 7:53.

    Album of the Week: Dead Cats Dead Rats’ Raw Lately I’ve been hearing people talk about how much they miss the ’90s. Yeah — the decade was cool. Flannel, acid wash jeans, weird hair cuts, Surge (thank god it’s back) and Nintendo 64 were in style, and Seattle was the mecca of music for most of those years. There was also Milli Vanilli and a plethora of horribly catchy “boy bands” that really ended the ’90s on a downer. While I don’t like to romanticize the past, a spectacular punk trio from Boston that has a sound similar to Nirvana, Mudhoney and Bad Religion has a new album out and it definitely harks back to the music of 20 years ago. That band is Dead Cats Dead Rats and their new album, Raw, is one of the most badass albums to come out in 2014. Relating to previous material I’ve heard from them, DCDR’s new release is loud with an abrasive angst. If you’re having a stressful day, crank this baby up, let it rip and rock the fuck out. Frontman Matt Reppucci has scorching riffs on guitar to go along with bassist Chris Wolz and drummer Travis Tenney crafting an electrifying rhythm section that is a musical force to be reckoned with. Press play on this bad boy and I guarantee you won’t stop listening. People these days sometimes just have to chill out, stop and smell the roses. Life’s too short not to do it. While partaking in said activity, make time to bask in the top tracks of my Album Of The Week.

George Harrison – My Sweet Lord - All Things Must Pass ‘70 This was the major smash hit of the album by Christmas 1970. It was originally intended for the Edwin Hawkins Singers (who had record, “Oh Happy Day,” which greatly influenced “My Sweet Lord.” George had also let Billy Preston release his own version before George’s – but it was George’s version that was the huge hit and remains the biggest single song success of his entire solo career. 4 Ringo – Oh My Lord – Choose Love John Lennon – God - Plastic Ono Band ‘70 This was the definitive track on the LP. This song was “stuck together” from three different, unfinished compositions. This included a laundry list of John’s opinions on his lost beliefs (namely people and philosophies). This was the song that confirmed the Beatles were over – John revealed he didn’t believe in the band, nor was Paul the walrus. John finally reveals that he was indeed the walrus. Lead vocal Paul The Beatles - Mother Nature’s Son - The Beatles 2 (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Another Paul McCartney solo performance for the “White Album.” Paul remembers writing the song at his father’s home in Liverpool and that it was inspired by Nat “King” Cole’s recording of “Nature Boy.” After the other Beatles went home on the evening of August 9, 1968, Paul went through 25 live performances of the song, each featuring his vocal and his Martin D-28 acoustic guitar. Take 24 was deemed the best. Overdubbing took place on August 20 with Paul playing drums and timpani, double-tracking his lead vocal at the end of the song, and adding a second acoustic guitar part. George Martin’s brass arrangement was also added to the mix. John Lennon – Mother – Plastic Ono Band ‘70 Originally started in England, the song’s composition was completed in California (during the famous “Primal Scream” therapy with Dr. Janov). This particular track explored John’s therapy head-on, and it set the musical and lyrical tone for the rest of the album. George Harrison had a great affection for this tune, as he sang the brief a cappella version during an interview on Good Morning Australia in 1982.
