Im- máron tizenegyedik alkalommal kerül megrendezésre nemzetközi szimpó- ziumunk, mely a hazai és határon túli magyar és külföldi vendégek által is egyre nagyobb megbecsülésnek örvend. Az idei évben 60 előadó összesen 8 szekcióban számolhat be legfrissebb tudományos eredményeiről. Idén két tematikus szekciót is meghirdettünk, egyiket a valláspedagógia témakörében, másikat “A nők helyzete az egyház- ban és a társadalomban” címmel. A referátumok tanulmánykötetben kerül- nek megjelentetésre a Doktoranduszok Országos Szövetségének kiadásában. Az idei évi konferencia nem jöhetett volna létre a Both Antal Teológi- ai és Kulturális Alapítvány, valamint a Debreceni Református Hittudomá- nyi Egyetem nagylelkű támogatása nélkül. Végezetül szeretnék köszönetet mondani a Hittudományi Osztály minden tagjának, akik idejüket és erejüket nem kímélve fáradoztak az elmúlt hónapokban e konferencia sikeres meg- szervezésén. This present volume contains the brief summaries of the presentations that are to be delivered at the 11th Conference of Junior Theologians and Doctoral Students. It is our greatest pleasure to say that the conference will be organized for the 11th time by the National Association of Doctoral Students (Department of Theology). The conference-series has gradually gained international recognition over the years amongst theology students and researchers. In 2021, 60 presenters have chosen to share their most recent research findings in eight sections. Two thematic sections were announced this year: Religious Education and “Women in Society and in the Church”. All presentations are to be collected into a volume edited by the National Association of Doctoral Students. This year’s conference could not have come into existence without the help of the Both Antal Theological and Cultural Foundation and the Debrecen Reformed Theological University for which we are all beyond thankful. I am wholeheartedly saying thank you to all members of the Theology Department for contributing to the success of the conference with a considerable amount of time and energy. A Debreceni Református Hittudományi Egyetem rektoraként a koronavírus járvány okozta nehézségek között is örömmel fogadtam a Doktoranduszok Országos Szövetsége Hittudományi Osztályának megkeresését, hogy 2021- ben intézményünk lássa vendégül a Fiatal Kutatók és Doktoranduszok XI. Nemzetközi Teológuskonferenciáját. Éppen egy éve, hogy a pandémia miatti korlátozások pár nap alatt új pályára állították életünket. A korábban fizikai jelenlétet megkövetelő felsőoktatási közösségi alkalmainkat, tudományos rendezvényeinket digitális kapcsolattartás: távolsági előadások, vizsgák, testületi ülések, istentiszteletek, virtuális jelenlét és közösség váltotta fel. Az elmúlt hónapok hiánya felhívta figyelmünket az egyetem, mint fizikai kap- csolattartási tér, illetve sajátos közösségi alkalmai fontosságára. Azonban azt is tapasztalhattuk, hogy a mai digitális közvetítő eszközök milyen haszno- sak lehetnek számunkra az oktatói és kutatói kapcsolattartás során. Jó tu- datosítanunk magunkban, hogy a távolsági kapcsolattartás eszközrendszere új lehetőségeket biztosít számunkra a hagyományos szakmai kompetenciák kialakítása, fejlesztése során. Idei szervezőként egy erre a feladatra alkal- mas virtuális konferenciatér kialakítása mellett arra is törekedtünk, hogy a résztvevők számára érzékelhetővé tegyük egyetemi főépületünk, a nemzeti emlékhely Debreceni Református Kollégium sajátos miliőjét és iskolakultú- ráját. Bízom abban, hogy a mostani rendkívüli keretek között, a legújabb kommunikációs eszközök felhasználásával megvalósított rendezvényünk is alkalmas lesz annak a szakmai közösségnek a létrehozására, amely hatható- san segíti a jelenlévő doktori iskola hallgatóinak tudományos előmenetelét. Ezek jegyében érdeklődve várjuk előadásaikat, friss meglátásaikat, kutatási eredményeiket, a kialakuló eszmecseréket. Dr. Baráth Béla Levente Debreceni Református Hittudományi Egyetem rektor 7 Dear Reader, it gives great pleasure to me, the rector of the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen, the request of the Department of Theology of the National Association of Ph.D. Students to entertain the 11th Conference of Junior Theologians and Doctoral Students, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic of Covid-19. Precisely one year ago our life was ranged into unfamiliar paths due to the restrictions of the pandemic. The usual way of occasions of academic life and scientific events, that had required physical presence, was succeeded by the digital maintenance of contacts, as the lectures at distance, online exams, general meetings, and church services, the virtual presence, and community. During these months we recognized that the university was a physical space where was possible to contact each other, and the importance of social events at the university. At the same time, we had also new experiences about the usefulness of digital equipment that can facilitate communication between professors, scholars, and researchers. We should be aware that the system of ways of communication at distance provides us new possibilities to develop our conventional professional competences. As the organizer of the conference this year, we made effort not just to create an adequate virtual platform but also to make noticeably the special milieu of the main building of our university, the national memorial of the Reformed College of Debrecen. I hope that this conference organized among these special opportunities now available will be able to assemble a professional audience that can efficiently help the academic progress of doctorate students. When a diocese is vacant, those interested in learning the identity of their new chief pastor have only to stay close to their radios on Tuesday to learn his identity. If no announcement is forthcoming in the forenoon, they know they must wait another week at least to learn the outcome of the arcane process by which Catholic bishops are selected. In keeping with this established curial practice, the Vatican Commis­ sion on Justice and Peace, headed by the African Cardinal Bernardin Gantin, held on Tuesday, December 18, 1979, a well-attended press conference to present the Pope's message for World Peace Day (January 1,1980). Entitled "Truth, the Power of Peace," this called for "a resolute effort of mind and action to stabilize from within the tottering and ever- threatened edifice of peace by putting its content of truth back into it." Murder, massacre, torture, and all forms of oppression, the Pope said, "must be called by their proper names." Peace, like truth, required moreover "readiness for sincere and continual dialogue Truth causes minds to come together; it shows what already unites the parties that were previously opposed." When Cardinal Gantin and his associates had answered the journalists' questions about the Pope's characteristically forceful message, Fr. LUSABE, Ottawa, Canada 2017 ABSTRACT This thesis analyses participative structures in selected particular Churches in the AMECEA1 region and proposes some concrete means through which active participation of the Christian faithful may be fostered in the participative structures of these Churches. Structures of participation are means whereby a communio ecclesiology finds expression. The 1983 Code provides for a greater number of participative structures in a particular Church in order to reflect communio. This study focuses on five of these participative structures: the diocesan synod, the diocesan finance council, the presbyteral council, the college of consultors, and the diocesan pastoral council, treating their nature, purpose, composition, functions, and cessation. Pope Francis emphasizes the principle of synodality, a constitutive element of the Church, as offering the most appropriate interpretative framework for understanding the Church. For synodality to be a reality, there is an urgent need for the renewal of participative structures. Areas of renewal include: the training of bishops, presbyters, and the laity in servant-leadership skills; intensification of ongoing formation of presbyters; revamped seminary formation programmes based on the Ratio fundamentalis institutionis sacerdotalis, 2016; a greater use of the deliberative vote in participative structures; identifying the purposes of the participative structures and making the best use of them.

    The International Journal of Illich Studies 2(1) 3 ISSN 1948-4666 Ivan Illich and the Conflict with Vatican (1966-1969)1 Jon Igelmo Zaldívar Patricia Quiroga Uceda Antecedents (1960-1966) By the end of 1960 Ivan Illich founded two centres with a close group of colleagues: CIC (Centro de Investigaciones Culturales) in Cuernavaca, México, and CENFI (Centro de Formação Intercultural) in Anápolis2, Brazil. Both centres were economically coordinated by the CIF (Center of Intercultural Formation), located in Fordham University, New York.3 The activity in these two centres which opened at the same time were focused on training religious and secular missionary groups, mainly from United States and Canada, who were responding to John XXIII Pope’s call for Latin America modernization. Officially at the beginning the aim of the centres was to train groups of volunteers in the culture and language of their next assignment.4 However something very different was being offered. Instead of teaching words of a new language they learned to be quiet5; and instead of basic notions about Latin American culture they dissuaded missioners from achieving their goal.6 In April 1963, at the same facility where CIC was located, a new project began under the direction of Valentina Borremans and academic leadership of Ivan Illich: CIDOC (Centro Intercultural de Documentación)7.
