The Case of Adiyaman (Turkey) İsmail UKAV Department of Accounting and Tax, Kahta Vacational School Adiyaman University, Adiyaman, Turkey Abstract Almond consumption is constantly increasing due to its nutritious properties. Almond production is unable to meet the growing demand in Turkey and therefore the import is done. The almond growing in Turkey, which is one of the oldest fruit species in Anatolia, is becoming increasingly important. Almonds grown in all regions except the Eastern Black Sea coasts are noteworthy for the increase in production in Southeastern Anatolia Region. Adiyaman province, which is one of the provinces of the region, has come to the point of almond growing in many respects for studying. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the existing almond growing potential of Adiyaman. The potential in almond growing of Kahta, one of the districts of Adiyaman, is in the scope of this study, as well. In the study, benefiting from Turkey's Statistics Institute data, analysis and comments have been made In addition, almond cultivation data were obtained from producers and evaluated. Using the statistical data of TSI between the years 2009-2018, the area where almond is grown, the number of bearing and non bearing trees, yield and production amounts has been determined and the increase rates during the period have been calculated. Almond production area in Adiyaman increased by 35 times and amount of production increased by 26 times during the ten years examined. -

MushRumors The Newsletter of the Northwest Mushroomers Association Volume 20 Issue 3 September - November 2009 2009 Mushroom Season Blasts into October with a Flourish A Surprising Turnout at the Annual Fall Show by Our Fungal Friends, and a Visit by David Arora Highlighted this Extraordinary Year for the Northwest Mushroomers On the heels of a year where the weather in Northwest Washington could be described as anything but nor- mal, to the surprise of many, include yours truly, it was actually a good year for mushrooms and the Northwest Mushroomers Association shined again at our traditional fall exhibit. The members, as well as the mushrooms, rose to the occasion, despite brutal conditions for collecting which included a sideways driving rain (which we photo by Pam Anderson thought had come too late), and even a thunderstorm, as we prepared to gather for the greatly anticipated sorting of our catch at the hallowed Bloedel Donovan Community Building. I wondered, not without some trepidation, about what fungi would actually show up for this years’ event. Buck McAdoo, Dick Morrison, and I had spent several harrowing hours some- what lost in the woods off the South Pass Road in a torrential downpour, all the while being filmed for posterity by Buck’s step-son, Travis, a videographer creating a documentary about mushrooming. Schumacher1 Key words Abstract Helvella is a widespread, speciose genus of large apothecial ascomycetes (Pezizomycete: Pezizales) that are found in terrestrial biomes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This study represents a beginning on molecular phylogeny assessing species limits and applying correct names for Helvella species based on type material and specimens in the Pezizales university herbaria (fungaria) of Copenhagen (C), Harvard (FH) and Oslo (O). We use morphology and phylogenetic systematics evidence from four loci – heat shock protein 90 (hsp), translation elongation factor alpha (tef), RNA polymerase II (rpb2) and the nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA (LSU) – to assess species boundaries in an expanded sample of Helvella specimens from Europe. We combine the morphological and phylogenetic information from 55 Helvella species from Europe with a small sample of Helvella species from other regions of the world. Little intraspecific variation was detected within the species using these molecular markers; hsp and rpb2 markers provided useful barcodes for species delimitation in this genus, while LSU provided more variable resolution among the pertinent species. We discuss typification issues and identify molecular characteristics for 55 European Helvella species, designate neo- and epitypes for 30 species, and describe seven Helvella species new to science, i.e., H. alpicola, H. alpina, H. carnosa, H. danica, H. nannfeldtii, H. pubescens and H. -

A Preliminary Checklist of Arizona Macrofungi
A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF ARIZONA MACROFUNGI Scott T. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona. -

The list includes all species published till year 2011. Twenty-one genera and 251 species were recorded, 121 species from the family Coprinaceae and 130 from Strophariaceae. KEY WORDS—Agaricomycetes, Coprinus, Psathyrella, Psilocybe, Stropharia Introduction This is the second checklist of the Argentine Agaricales. Previous one considered the families Amanitaceae, Pluteaceae and Hygrophoraceae (Niveiro & Albertó, 2012). Argentina is located in southern South America, between 21° and 55° S and 53° and 73° W, covering 3.7 million of km². Due to the large size of the country, Argentina has a wide variety of climates (Niveiro & Albertó, 2012). The incidence of moist winds coming from the oceans, the Atlantic in the north and the Pacific in the south, together with different soil types, make possible the existence of many types of vegetation adapted to different climatic conditions (Brown et al., 2006). Mycologists who studied the Agaricales from Argentina during the last century were reviewed by Niveiro & Albertó (2012). It is considered that the knowledge of the group is still incomplete, since many geographic areas in Argentina have not been studied as yet. The checklist provided here establishes a baseline of knowledge about the diversity of species described from Coprinaceae and Strophariaceae families in Argentina, and serves as a resource for future studies of mushroom biodiversity.
