DOG” New Series Produced for Animal Planet by Magical Elves Featuring Cat Expert Jackson Galaxy and Dog Expert/Trainer Zoe Sandor Premieres Sat. Nov. 11 at 10PM ET/PT When cats and dogs live together under the same roof and chaos ensues, lives can be turned upside down and households torn apart. In CAT VS. DOG, cat expert Jackson Galaxy (My Cat from Hell) and dog expert/trainer Zoe Sandor provide support, direction, key insight and much needed help to families seeking to establish peace between dogs and cats in turbulent homes. CAT VS. DOG premieres Sat., Nov. 11 at 10PM ET/PT. In each episode of CAT VS. DOG, Jackson and Zoe meet pet owners and witness first-hand the dog and cat behaviors negatively impacting their home life. Jackson and Zoe determine the behaviors that need to be addressed by both humans and animals and then they create a long-term plan so cats and dogs can live happily together. Their plans include daily routines and procedures to be carried out over several months with the goal of conflict resolution to create a home where cats and dogs can get along. “We are inspired by Jackson and Zoe’s ability to identify key behaviors between cats and dogs and the skill at which they can also train humans to correct their behaviors in these conflicts. Jackson and Zoe are a delightful team to watch and a welcome addition to our Saturday night lineup,” said Patrice Andrews, General Manager of Animal Planet. Throughout the season, CAT VS. DOG reveals some of the most tumultuous situations both Jackson and Zoe have ever encountered. Some of the cases this season include: a couple unable to move their relationship forward because their dog and cats can’t stand each other; best friends whose living situation is threatened if their cat and dog can’t get along; a terribly divided family of four, each with a different opinion on who is at fault in the contentious relationship between their beloved dog and family cat; and an owner whose solution to her three dogs terrorizing her cats is to build a rooftop cat sanctuary complete lawn chairs and a library for her own enjoyment. CAT VS. DOG is produced for Animal Planet by Emmy Award-winning production company Magical Elves Inc. For Magical Elves, Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz are Casey Kriley are the executive producers and Rebecca Hertz and Allison Schermerhorn are the showrunners. Hearst pays $81.3M for stake in AwesomenessTV 12 December 2014 Hearst Corp. is betting $81.3 million that Internet video network AwesomenessTV will live up to its name. The investment announced Thursday gives Hearst a 25 percent stake in AwesomenessTV, which DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. acquired in May 2013. The deal is the latest to underscore the growing popularity of Internet video services. Glendale- based DreamWorks bought AwesomenessTV, or ATV, at a price that could exceed $100 million if certain financial targets are reached. Just 19 months later, Awesomeness TV has now been valued at $325 million, based on Hearst's investment. ATV, which tailors its videos for teens, got its start with a small piece of the $100 million that Google Inc.'s YouTube doled out to about 100 programmers in 2012. New York-based Hearst, which owns 29 traditional television stations, hopes to help ATV expand its audience beyond the viewers who watch the network's clips about 800 million times per month. Among other things, Hearst is allowing ATV to use its video-on-demand technology to expand. "For us, it's very important to make a bet on the future of how content is created," said Hearst CEO Steven Swartz. ATV's stable of talent includes Cimorelli, Miss Glamorazzi, Tyler Oakley, Cameron Dallas and Nash Grier. © 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. ABSTRACT Intimacy Issues: A Content Analysis of Intimacy Levels and Engagement Rates Between Celebrities and Influencers on Instagram Carlye Elizabeth Thornton, M.A. Mentors: Mia Moody-Ramirez, Ph.D. The development of social media marketing has amplified the value of peer recommendations, leading brands to utilize the inclusive nature of Instagram to employ celebrity endorsement and/or influencer marketing techniques. Though the two strategies are different, individuals outside the industry often confuse them, resulting in lower engagement rates and credibility. The purpose of this research is to establish the type of relationships celebrities and influencers have with their followers and to recognize their differences. By using Consumer-Brand Relationship Theory, Social Influence Theory and Para-Social Interaction Theory, the researcher identified key components of online intimacy and analyzed Instagram content from three celebrities (Kendall Jenner, Ariana Grande and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and three influencers (Miranda Sings, Lilly Singh and Tyler Oakley). The researcher examined N = 320 Instagram posts to determine the presence of intimacy and calculate engagement rates. Key Words: consumer-brand relationship theory, social influence theory, para-social interaction theory, intimacy, celebrity endorsement, influencer marketing, social media Intimacy Issues: A Content Analysis of Intimacy Levels and Engagement Rates Between Celebrities and Influencers on Instagram by Carlye Elizabeth Thornton, B.A. A Thesis Approved by the Department of Journalism, Public Relations and New Media Sara Stone, Ph.D, Chairperson Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of Baylor University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Arts Approved by the Thesis Committee Mia Moody-Ramirez, Ph.D., Chairperson Elizabeth M.

Since the internet and the social media have become widely available, the new media has been effective in socio-cultural changes and transformations. The relation between the traditional media and the new media has also been under transformation. This study is based on the relation between the mainstream cinema and the new media and “YouTuber movies” are investigated in this context which are examined using genre criticism method. • “Quest for the Booty”: Vine Culture (MAGCON) and Neoliberal Gendered Ideologies Abstract
1 University of Calgary Faculty of Arts Department of Communication, Media and Film Winter 2017 COMS 590 - Honours Thesis (Official Copy) By: Dustin Lo Advisor: Dr. Tamara Shepherd Program Coordinator: Dr. Tania Smith Title: “Quest for the Booty”: Vine Culture (MAGCON) and Neoliberal Gendered Ideologies Abstract This thesis will examine neoliberal gender identities in the MAGCON (Meet-and-Greet Convention) phenomenon, which originated on the social platform Vine. The research primarily focuses on Vines (six-second videos uploaded to Vine) produced by the leading figures in the group, Cameron Dallas and Nash Grier, who were once the most popular Vine personalities and authoritative figures to teenage audiences. Through the Circuit of Culture, I argue that MAGCON mediates normative, neoliberal gender performances to teenagers, particularly teen girls, with the help of the gazing effect and cultivation. MAGCON’s Circuit of Culture includes the production of Vines that demonstrate its ideals, and their consumption by audiences who are constructed by these ideals. MAGCON cultivates a balance between hegemonic and non- hegemonic masculinities within its ideal male image, while promoting a mixture of the “cool girl,” commodity feminism and neoliberal feminism within its ideal girl image. MAGCON regulates the norms to specific audiences through an authoritative “family” image, and elaborates its notions on ideals through dynamic representations, performances, and audience feedback. This thesis presents MAGCON as a case example of the consumerist,

But how much value do beauty guru Michelle Phan's 8 million subscribers really have? Marketing giant Ogilvy & Mather believes that subscriber numbers mean a lot less than a creator's ability to build a community. So Ogilvy has put together a list of the 30 online stars with the most-en- gaged fans as part of a larger paper in partnership with mobile com- munity platform Victorious on the new social contract. "There's a bias of looking at the world through the lens of TV," says Rob Davis, exec- utive director of content and video marketing at Ogilvy. "The value of TV is the value of the eyeballs that are tuned in at any given moment, but I think it has taken a while for marketers to understand that the value of online communities has another layer to it." Ogilvy weighed an online star's reach, engagement and growth rate across YouTube, Vine and social media to determine the top three cre- ators across 10 categories (listed alphabetically below). Says Davis, "We found that some of the people with massive audiences weren't growing a community."
