A walk from the South Health Centre, 50 Conisborough Crescent, , SE6 2SP

Forster Memorial Park

Description: A circuit of nearby . This walk can be easily lengthened by choosing alternative routes in the park. There is a useful inner circuit some of which is shared with the occasional cyclist, while other routes pass through the wooded parts of the park – these routes tend to have cracked and uneven surfaces that might become slippery in the wet. The walk links with the Woodland Walk and if you are a little more adventurous and have time, can be extended to include a loop through the unusual .

Distance: 1.3 miles (but easily extended) Duration: 28 mins Paces: 2,650 paces

1. Turn left out the centre and then first right into Carstairs Road. Turn right at the T-junction and then left through a pedestrian gate, up a path into Forster Memorial Park.

2. As you climb the path, there will be alternative routes that branch off to left and right, but we want you to keep climbing to the top. Through the trees you will see a sports field. You bear left on to the main path between two oak trees, and then turn right to walk on a wider tarmac path in the open [0.25 miles, 6 mins, 550 paces].

3. Here you can choose to take a circuit of the park to the left or the right.

There are several options for you to choose to extend your walk – you can follow a perimeter route through the trees around the edges of the park, or leave the park following a path to Longhill Road to explore the unusual Excalibur estate, or at a point diagonally opposite from where you started follow the driveway to the main park gate on Lane, to join the Woodland Walk route.

4. To return to the pedestrian gate on Conisborough Crescent follow the route you took on entry to the park.

5. Turn left once through the gate and follow Conisborough Crescent around to the Health Centre.
