Get your tables together and keep watching for more information. Heaps of fun guaranteed. Heaps of great prizes too! Changerooms Our new changerooms are nearing lock-up stage. After so many years of little to no action except money being paid for approvals and sewer connections, it’s wonderful to see them taking shape. Once at lock-up, we will be looking for donations of money and materials in order to complete the internal fit-out eg tiles, bathroom fittings and fixtures, benches etc etc. We will also need assistance from qualified tradies – electricians, plumbers, painters etc. If you believe you can assist, please see Russell Hicks or email him at [email protected]. Caravan Needed The Club is in need of a caravan to serve as residence for our onsite caretaker. If you have one that you are looking to part with or know someone that is, please contact Russell Hicks on 0412 794 626. Congratulations Congratulations to David Cantatore (Metro 1 Reserves) and his wife on the birth of their daughter on 5 May. Canale Cup Souths United will verse Oxley United for Round 2 of the 2011 Canale Cup. The match will be on Tuesday 31 May, starting at 7pm here at Souths, so please come along to support your team. The enthusiasm and work-ethic on the park is a must against Olympic. Roy Wiseman may spring a tactical surprise, however expect JJ to lead the line with Michael Andrews and Lee Parker offering wide support. Attacking midfield runs from Seamus McAnelly and Brandon Vitale offer other dangers for Olympic’s backline. Olympic will be without regular custodian Shannon Lancini after the keeper’s sending off against Taringa. Taking his place will be Conrad Cassaniti who has performed admirably when called upon in the past. Josh McVey has rejoined Olympic who have played Alexsander Panic and Danny Byrne as first-choice forwards. Olympic have avoided taking opposition lightly and remain only 5 points behind Wolves; this could be a stiffer test than many would predict. • Understanding Football in 2013 and the Acronyms – APL, BPL, BJL, SSF
Understanding Football in 2013 and the Acronyms – APL, BPL, BJL, SSF Football in Australia has changed! Football Federation Australia (FFA) has introduced an Australia-wide elite program for juniors (male and female) and seniors (male and female). Football Brisbane (FB) has also changed the competition structure in 2013. This document attempts to simplify and clarify the acronyms and the football structure in Brisbane from 2013. Australian Premier League (APL) The APL is an FFA competition for elite players. The program will be rolled out over the next 4 or 5 years. The program is run in each state with the competition including both Capital and regional areas. The structure in all states is the same. There is a possibility of ‘National Championship’ style finals at the end of the season. The program in Qld is administered by Football Qld (FQ). There are 14 APL Clubs in Qld: Brisbane City Football Club Brisbane Olympic FC Brisbane Strikers CQFC Energy FNQ FC Mackay Crusaders Moreton Bay United Northern Fury Palm Beach Sharks Redlands United Football Club Sunshine Coast Fire SWQ Thunder Western Pride Football Club Wide Bay Revolution. Each of these clubs has an FQ determined Catchment Area. Clubs have therefore been allocated to a specific APL Club (based on total number of players rather than pure geographical considerations for the Brisbane clubs). For Souths United, our APL Club is Brisbane Strikers who operate from Meakin Park, Slacks Creek. Each of the 14 APL Clubs must have the following teams: Male Female Senior Men’s Senior Women’s (from 2014) Under 20s Under 18s Under 18s Under 16s Under 15’s Under 15s Under 14s Under 14s Under 13s Under 13s Under 12s For 2011 and 2012, Souths was one of three Brisbane Clubs that conducted the then elite program for girls: Junior Premier League (JPL).

  • FB Competition Rules
2020 Rules of Competition (RoC) Variations (COVID) As a consequence of the effect of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic on Australia and the Federal and Queensland Government restrictions in place, several Rules of Competition (RoC) clauses for the 2020 Football Brisbane season have been amended to reflect increased flexibility across all competitions. These amendments will ensure competition fixtures are scheduled to minimise health risks to our community, clubs, and their members and to limit travel. It will also enable clubs to utilise players to support and supplement reduced playing numbers in teams and to decrease the risk of injury. Revisions such as kick-off times throughout the weekend, interchange, increasing the number of games a player can play in higher divisions/leagues, reworking leagues to be primarily geographically based, and simplifying team sheets/photo identification will assist in this process. Any references in this document to RoC clauses can be found on the full RoC if required. As we, fortunately, prepare for season 2020, we ask that everyone is mindful of the principles Football Brisbane has adopted for the Community Football season; • Focus is on football and the enjoyment of the game (particularly with regards to season length, fixture alterations, health and safety, and participation), please keep this in mind at clubs and on matchday. • Across all competitions, make it as simple and easy to play Community Football in season 2020, including simplified competition rules, game day processes, match sheets, and competition structures and ensure fixtures are completed. • Be agile as the restrictions may ease, allowing for a change in fixture scheduling for the remainder of the season and club requirements (canteen, bar, change rooms) however the structures of the competitions and the RoC will remain set for season 2020.
