In the event that a rule is not addressed by the MAC Baseball Sport Operating Code, NCAA Rules shall apply. Please review the Code and keep this Code accessible as a reference throughout the season. Game Balls The Rawlings R1-NCAA and R200 are the only approved game balls for MAC competition. Scouting / Exchange No in person scouting of advance opponents is permitted, per NCAA Rules. There is an exception for Tournaments at the same site under the same designation (e.g., MAC Tournament). Pre-Game Protocols Please note the pre-game protocols outlined in the Sport Operating Code, attached. Travel Squad The Travel Squad limit for MAC competition is 27 participating student-athletes (excluding one spring trip – no limit). There is no regular season Travel Party limit (number of coaches, staff, etc.). Umpire Fees Flat Fees for the 2014 Season are $900/weekend series for the crew chief and $800/weekend series for other umpires. 24 Public Square, 15th Floor ● Cleveland, Ohio 44113 [O] 216.566.4622 ● [F] 216.696.2622 ● www.mac-sports.com Umpire Evaluations Please be sure to complete umpire evaluations on a regular basis and submit the same to the MAC Coordinator of Umpires on a weekly basis. Weather / Games Times & Dates Should weather dictate, games times and dates may be adjusted. Decisions to start a game, to change the start time or to adjust the day of game are under the discretion of the home team administration. Once a game begins, the decision to stop the game rests solely with the umpires. The conference office (Jeff Bacon / [email protected]) must be notified of all game time/day changes. Please refer to the Sport Operating Code, attached, for complete game change regulations and application of the halted game rule. Site Switches Site switches to a nearby playable field/venue are permitted with approval of the visiting team and the conference office. In the event that a site switch is required, the home team should first contact the conference office to review alternatives that may be presented to the visiting team. In some occasions, a switch to the visiting team site may be permitted. In these instances, the following protocols shall apply: • Teams shall remain designated as original Home and Away Teams per the MAC Baseball Schedule and shall not switch. (the “Home” Team is the team that in this case has travelled to the site being utilized for play, and the “Visiting” Team is the team that regularly plays at the site being utilized) • The visiting team shall continue to wear road uniforms and the home team shall continue to wear home uniforms. • The visiting team shall continue to hit at the top of the inning. • The visiting team shall use the home dugout and the home team shall use the visiting dugout. • The home team shall notify the MAC Coordinator of Umpires and will ensure that assigned umpires are available for the site change. The following financial arrangement is suggested. Institutions are free to negotiate their own financial agreement. • Umpires. The home team is responsible for the payment of umpires. • Team Travel. The visiting team will reimburse the home team for hotel, bus and meal expensed incurred. • Operational Costs. The home team will reimburse the visiting team for costs associated with game operations (PA, music, grounds crew, etc.) 2014 MAC Tournament – Cleat Reimbursement The 2014 Tournament will again be held at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, Ohio, where the top eight teams in the league (overall record regardless of division) will compete in a double elimination tournament May 21st – 25th. Complete Tournament information will be sent to all teams on or around April 18th. The Lake Erie Crushers will reimburse all teams, regardless of qualification for the Tournament, for the costs of purchasing one pair of molded cleats for all NEW players other than non-hitting pitchers. Only non-hitting pitchers may use metal cleats on the All-Pro Freight Stadium surface. Players may only receive this re-imbursement once during their collegiate career. To be reimbursed for molded cleat purchases from the 2013-14 Season (incoming/new players/catchers only), please submit a list of names and the cost per cleat to Paul Siegwarth at the Lake Erie Crushers ([email protected]). Regular Season 1. Rules a. All conference competition shall be governed by NCAA rules. b. The visiting team shall notify the host team's head coach of the team's accommodations for notification of any schedule changes. 2. Scheduling/Procedures a. Conference competition shall consist of a 9-week, 27-game schedule of nine three-game series with play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except for the last week of the regular season in which games may be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. b. Conference games shall be scheduled to allow three games per three- day weekend, allowing for a single game on each day. All games shall be nine-inning games. c. It is strongly recommended that non-conference games be scheduled with NCAA Division I institutions. d.
