Make a cup of homemade hot chocolate.

YOU WILL NEED: • 2 c. whole milk • whipped cream (optional) • 2 tbsp. sugar • marshmallows (optional) • 4 oz. chopped bittersweet chocolate • peppermint sticks (optional) (just under 1 c. measured)

1. Combine milk and sugar in a small saucepan and place on the stovetop over medium heat.

2. While the milk is heating, place the chopped chocolate in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Take the chocolate out and stir it. Mary Claiborne Journal Reporter Ketchum’s Gateway to Grand Lake Christmas Parade was held on the beautiful evening of December 4. People lined Hwy. 85, anxiously awaiting the sound of sirens, indicating the parade had started. Defi nitely, with sirens blaring, all the police, sheriff and fi re trucks in the area were represented. Following the parade everyone would head to Ketchum High School where the winners of the parade would be announced. One could also purchase tickets in hopes to have the winning number to win a prize. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to greet the children, and there was hot chocolate and cookies for all to enjoy. Judges for the parade, Special thanks to the sponsors: Town of Ketchum; Janice and Dennis BancFirst; Howard’s Classic Boats; Pine Lodge Resort; Lee, had 17 entries to Buddy’s Food; South Grand Lake Regional Airport; judge. Pickles Bar & Grill; Dam Nutrition; Gambino’s Pizza and Jones Hardware.

Gloria Longmire, one-year-old Brixtyn, Brooke Cozart and Francis Christian, holding two-year-old Legend Horse Creek are anxious for the parade to pass by.

Lacy Bule, four-year-old Raelynn Parker, Betty Porter and Tori Schulte are ready to hear sirens, indicating the parade has started.

Cub Scout Pack 66, out of Vinita, carried the Colors.

Pine Lodge Resort was represented.

This year’s Grand Marshal in the Ketchum Christmas Parade was Oklahoma State Representative, District 6, Rusty Cornwell, accompanied by his wife Sherri.

Craig County Shriner Rascals always put smiles on spectators' faces.
