Mission Statement Father Regidor Carreon, Parochial Administrator Our Community of St. Joseph Catholic

endeavors to continue the mission of , the salvation of souls. We do this by sharing our gifts of service and stewardship while reaching out and nourishing our families with Christ-. Pastoral Reflection

TESTED AND APPLIED ” In the case our Lord and Savior Christ, one can never dismiss his word of love as a mere invitation. Jesus clearly says that it is a commandment which is new: “LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I LOVED YOU. ” To love is a mandate given by with so much gravity and with no exception to all his followers. To disregard his commandment sadly leads to its opposites, namely 1) hatred that consumes both the person hated and the one who hates as seen in so many sectarian and political struggles where both combatants and innocent civilians are slain indiscriminately. 2) Selfishness which is the antithesis of God who in his infinite goodness showers His love on all his children. Even the very rich who have been gifted with so much material success and tend to hide in their enclaves will still pine for one who can share their bounty. Unfortunately, some of their beneficiaries are animals, notably dogs, cats and roosters which their owners prefer to humans because they are supposedly cuddly all the time. Persons, having minds and lives of their own, are not always likeable. Christ, however, commands hid followers to love others regardless of one ’s likes and dislikes. The Church, Christ ’s visible presence here on earth, saw its birth and proved itself so in the humble gesture of love – when Jesus washed his disciples ’ feet and consummated his act of love by dying on the cross. Soon after that supreme act of love, the coming of the Spirit of Love Himself took place to foster and keep alive the love of God among His people for always. In a country still divided into the very rich and the extremely poor, the mighty and powerless, the well -educated and the functionary literate, in a land ever teetering on the brink of social disaster, at a time when there is so much hatred and selfishness, the commandment of the Lord rings out with uncanny timelessness and urgency. “Love one another just as I have loved you. ” Can we afford not to listen and not to obey? #94. A STORY OF A 12YRS. OLD BOY THAT TESTED A MOTHER ’S LOVE: A mother once told, “I could have come up with a dozen excuses; I was tired after long day at work …I was caught off guard …Or maybe I was just hungry. The plain truth is, that when I walked into the living room and my twelve -year old son looked up to me and said, “I love you. ” I didn ’t know what to say. For several seconds, all I could do was to stand there and stare down at him, figuring there must be some trick to this. He must need some help with his homework, was my first thought. Or he ’s going to ask me for money … Finally, I asked, “What do you want? ” He laughed and started to run to the room. But I called him back, “Hey, what is all this about? ” I demanded. “Nothing, ” he said grinning. “My health teacher said that we should tell our parents that we should love them and see what they say. It ’s a sort of experiment. ” This whole week is filled with a lot of Optional Memorials of many like St. Bernardine of Siena on the 20th and also Victoria Day for Canada. St. Rita of Cascia on the 22nd and on the 23rd, we remember the feasts of Ss. Bede the Venerable, Gregory VII and Magdalene de ’ Pazzi. This is for now, watch for the next bulletin. God Bless! Your Priest -Servant and Parochial Administrator, Fr. Reggie
