NAIROBI OPEN NOVICE KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP - 2019 SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2019 TECHNICAL GUIDELINES The Nairobi Open Novice Karate Championship - 2019 will also serve as a Launcher to our newly formed Nairobi City County Karate Sports Association. For that and other reasons touching on time management and professionalizing the event, we will ONLY admit a Maximum of 120 Entries in both Kata and Kumite; Male and Female Every Category will admit Maximum Entries as shown below. Any Kata performed out of the Kata list above MAY lead to direct DISQUALIFICATION. Contestants MUST perform a different Kata in each round. Once performed, a Kata may not be repeated. DISQUALIFICATION will apply to a contestant who repeats a Kata. All competitors MUST have Red and/or Blue Belts and Hand Mitts. Should a competitor be called and lack the requisite attire ( Aka / Ao), DISQUALIFICATION (KIKEN) will be applied Rules of the Day: The doors will open at 8:00 am and the competitive event will start at 9:00 am. Athletes in all Categories should strive to arrive at least 1 hour before they are scheduled to compete as shown in the Competition program. Should the event run ahead of schedule, category start times may be brought forward. During the Weigh In session (8:00 am to 10:00 am), any competitor found not to be of the correct weight category they had entered (prior to the deadline) will not be allowed to compete. NO Competitor(s) will be moved to the next weight category if they fail in their registered category. The affected competitor(s) will forfeiture their Registration Charges. Compulsory Equipment: Red / Blue hand mitts are compulsory for all. However during the Medal Matches (Gold and Bronze Matches), successful competitors MUST wear Hand Mitts, Shin Guards and Foot Protection of designated color (Red / Blue). Repechage: We fully intend to have Repechage for all Kumite Categories. However, the Event Manager has the authority to withdraw Repechage if time frame becomes critical Coaches’ Dress code: Only registered and accredited coaches will be permitted in the Tatami area. They must be in an official tracksuit with closed shoes and clearly display their accreditation cards. Inappropriate dress, as deemed by the Event Manager will be refused access to the competition area Photography and Recording: The NCC Karate Association plan to engage a photographer who will take action shots and videos of selected competitors. These Videos and photographs will be used for promotional purposes. However, should anyone have a concern, please contact the event manager prior to the event. Insurance: It is the responsibility of each individual, parent / guardian (if under 18 years of age) or coach of a competitor to have their own insurance cover for the event. Disclaimer: Karate is a martial art and contact sport, and people can and do get injured. The Nairobi Open Novice Karate Championship Organizing Committee and the Nairobi City County Karate Sports Association Executive Committee will not accept responsibility for any such injury, loss or accident arising from your participation in this event.
