Especially in these difficult economic times, many worthy charitable organizations are in need of critical financial support. We are thankful that you continue to place your faith in us to achieve the end result, which is assuring that deserving students continue to have access to an outstanding education at the University of Maine. An African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Together we can continue to accomplish great things. As the Foundation begins its 75th year, we look forward to working with you to help open doors to opportunities students could otherwise only imagine. She was Foundationthe previously a civil litigator with a Bangor law firm. During that time Sarah served as a guardian ad litem for patients at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (formerly the Bangor Mental Health Institute). For the past several years, Sarah has been a volunteer birthday cake baker at the DDPC. Established 30 years ago, the Birthday Cake Program ensures that every patient has a birthday celebration—complete with a special cake baked by the volunteers. This is especially significant because many of the patients have no family in their lives to share special occasions. Sarah brings that same kind of compassion and commitment to her planned giving work, providing outstanding professional service with that special personal touch. “Working with our donors to create opportunities for students is incredibly rewarding,” says Sarah.
