The collection documents Goldmann's work with the many Jewish and Zionist organizations he was involved in, most notably the World Jewish Congress - Page 3- Nahum Goldmann collection11.MWalB02691. and the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Goldmann was a prolific writer, and this collection contains drafts and correspondence related to many of the books, articles, and speeches that he wrote to promote his ideas. A small amount of material covers Goldmann's personal and family life. The collection also contains articles and correspondence written about Nahum Goldmann, including a large number of condolence letters. Sub-series 1: By Nahum Goldmann consists mainly of correspondence and reports written by Nahum Goldmann and related to his diplomatic work, including his efforts to aid Jewish refugees during WWII and his work with the Claims Conference. Sub-series 2: Family consists of correspondence between immediate members of Nahum Goldmann's family on topics such as other family members, events, travel, finances, events, health, work, etc. Most of the letters are between Nahum and Alice Goldmann and their son Guido Goldman. Sub-series 3: About Nahum Goldmann consists of correspondence about Nahum Goldmann, mainly between his son Guido Goldman and others. The bulk of material in this sub-series consists of condolences sent to Guido Goldman and Alice Goldmann after Nahum Goldmann's death on August 29, 1982. There are also copies of replies to these condolences, and condolences sent to Guido Goldman after the death Alice Goldmann in 1996. Guido Goldman's correspondence about Nahum Goldmann's publications, events, travel, and legacy are also included in this sub-series, along with related documents such as notes, itineraries, etc. Each sub-series is arranged chronologically, although some file units span multiple folders and multiple years. A small amount of correspondence is located in other series (including series 3: Personal and Legal Documents, series 4: Oral History, series 6: Scrapbooks and Photo Albums, and series 7: Newspaper and Magazine Articles); in such cases the correspondence is closely related to the other materials and they were originally grouped together.
