H.E. Amb. (Dr.) Amina C. Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade,

Ambassador Amina Mohamed became Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2013. She previously served as the Permanent Representative of the Kenyan Mission to the UN in from 2000 – 2006, and has over 28 years of experience in public service in both Kenya and at the international level. As a distinguished diplomat, lawyer and policymaker, Ambassador Mohamed worked across a broad spectrum of issues facing the global community from international trade and disarmament issues to sustainable development and environmental policy. She was the first female appointed as Chairman of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in 2002, as well as the first female to chair the WTO’s General Council in 2005. Ambassador Mohamed has also served as United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She then served the government of Kenya as Director for Europe and the Commonwealth Division as well as Director for Diaspora Affairs in the Foreign Ministry, followed by a position as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs.

H.E. Ms. Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands

Lilianne Ploumen was appointed Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in the Rutte-Asscher government in November 2012. In 1995, she founded Ploumen Projecten, an organisation specialising in market research and innovation for commercial and non-profit clients. Between 2001 and 2007, she worked for the development organization Cordaid, first as head of quality and strategy and later as director of international programmes. She has also been a board member of feminist organisation Opzij and Women Inc. and a member of the Stop Aids Now! supervisory board.

Ms. Arancha González, Executive Director, International Trade Centre

Arancha González has served as the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) since September 2013. Before joining ITC, Ms. Gonzalez served as Chief of Staff to World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General Pascal Lamy from 2005 to 2013. She has extensive knowledge about international trade and economics coupled with a broad experience in trade and development matters in both the public and privates sectors. Prior to working at the WTO, Ms. Gonzalez held several positions at the European Commission. Between 2002 and 2004, she was the European Union spokeswoman for trade and adviser to the European Union Trade Commissioner.

Ms. Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, Special Envoy on Gender, African Development Bank Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi has been the Special Envoy on Gender at the African Development Bank since 2013. She has been appointed by the Secretary General of the UN as a board member of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and occupied the position of the Director of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Democratic Governance Group, which oversaw the strategic and policy work in 197 countries and territories. Ms. Fraser-Moleketi has also served successive terms as Minister for Welfare and Population Development from 1996 – 1999 and Minister for Public Service and Administration in South Africa from 1999 – 2008.

Mr. Dominik Ziller, Deputy Director-General, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany

Dominik Ziller is the Deputy Director General for Global processes, financing for development, and effectiveness for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany. He is currently heading the Sustainable Textile Alliance as Germany’s lead representative to Financing for Development (FFD). He recently served as Member of the Executive Management Committee and Director General Migration for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and was previously the Deputy Head of the Division for Donor Coordination, Head of Budget Division and Deputy Director General Asia. Mr. Ziller was also a board member of various institutions such as the European Fund for South East Europe, and the Extracting Industries Transparency Initiative.

Mr. Samuel Mensah, Founder and CEO, KISUA Samuel Mensah is the Founder and CEO of KISUA, an innovative ecommerce platform offering exclusive African inspired fashion online to global consumers. Today, KISUA works with African designers to create unique capsule collections alongside its in-house line and collaborations with global fashion brands and retailers. Mr. Mensah is also the former Africa Director for Intel Capital, where he would invest in innovative African technology companies and start-ups. He holds and MA in Economics and Management from Oxford University and has advised African governments on e-Government, e-, Digital Inclusion policy and Entrepreneurship. He has also previously worked at investment bank, Deutsche Bank, and tech consulting firm Gresham Financial Systems.

Mr. Patrick Kariuki, Director and Founder, Amalgamated Chama Ltd, and Chairman, Kenya Association of Investment Groups

Patrick Kariuki is a founding member of Amalgamated Chama Limited Investment Fund (ACL) and Chairman of Kenya Association of Investment Group (KAIG). He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). Mr. Kariuki has over 20 years of experience in the areas of finance, accounting, administration, risk, compliance and investments. He is also a senior executive and shareholder of Genesis Kenya, a leading fund management company.

Ms. Helen Hai, CEO of Made in Africa Initiative and UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador

 Helen Hai is the CEO of Made in Africa Initiative and a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The Made in Africa Initiative aims at assisting African countries to capture the opportunity of inclusive and sustainable industrial development. . For over two years, she worked in where she served as the Vice President and General Manager for overseas investment for the Huajian Company, one of China's biggest shoe makers. The shoe factory she established in the capital, Addis Ababa, started production in January 2012 and, within two years, employed 3,500 workers. She also serves as adviser to the governments of Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Senegal for investment promotion and industrialization and is a senior adviser to the IFC with a focus on south-south cooperation. Ms. Hai has BA in actuarial science and MSc in actuarial management from City University in London and EMBA from INSEAD and Tsinghua University. She is elected as one of the 2015 Global Young Leader by World Economic Forum.

Ms. Adama Paris, Fashion designer

Adama Amanda Ndiaye is the fashion designer behind the Adama Paris label. Ms. Paris was born in Kinshasa but of Senegalese origin. She created Dakar Fashion Week in an effort to highlight local designs and celebrate Senegalese fashion, art, and self- expression. In 2014, she launched Fashion Africa TV, which is the first television network completely dedicated to African fashion.

Mr. Gavin Rajah, Fashion Designer, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Gavin Rajah is a fashion designer and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). He founded Cape Town Fashion Week in 2003 and is a leading South African fashion designer, entrepreneur, and humanitarian activist. He is a committed advocate for both women’s and children’s right to protection and is an active supporter of the development of critical life skills for young individuals.

Mr. Auret van Heerden, President and Founder of Equiception Auret van Heerden is the President and Founder of Equiception, a mission-driven organisation based in specialising in issues of employment relations, sustainability, corporate social responsibility and human rights in the global value chain. Mr. van Heerden has 40 years of experience dealing with labour and human rights issues in global value chains, is a member of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Human Rights, and co-chairs the Fair Wage Network.
