CANNIBAL CORPSE 05. Juli 2019 | Stuttgart-Wangen, LKA/Longhorn Gäste: Traitor Der Name CANNIBAL CORPSE weckt viele Assoziationen, aber nur ein Wort trifft zu ihrer Beschreibung den Nagel auf den Kopf: unaufhaltsam. Die Death-Metal-Veteranen veröffentlichen 2017 ihr monströses 14. Studioalbum „Red Before Black“.

First, a huge thank you to the more than two hundred and twenty five people from the radio and political worlds who graciously took time from their busy schedules to answer my questions. Some of them put up with repeated follow ups and nagging emails as I tried to develop an understanding of the business and its political implications. They allowed me to keep most things on the record, and provided me with an understanding that simply would not have been possible without their participation. When I began this project, I never imagined that I would interview anywhere near this many people, but now, almost five years later, I cannot imagine the project without the information gleaned from these invaluable interviews. I have been fortunate enough to receive fellowships from the Fox Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania and the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia, which made it far easier to complete this dissertation. I am grateful to be a part of the Fox family, both because of the great work that the program does, but also because of the terrific people who work at Fox.

  • Tales from the Crypt
Ah, HBO. Here in the year 2014, those three little initials are shorthand for quality, original programming; small screen event television almost certain to be immeasurably superior to the megabucks offerings of your local multiplex. The network also boasts a rich tradition of brining monsters into our living rooms, with the unsavoury actions of Livia Soprano, Gyp Rosetti, Cy Tolliver and Joffrey Baratheon horrifying viewers of all walks of life. Way back in the late 1980s, however, HBO introduced us to an altogether different kind of miscreant; a wisecracking living corpse, a teller of tall tales that focussed on vampires, zombies and the evil that men do. Jackanory it most certainly wasn’t – we’re referring, of course, to the legendary Tales from the Crypt. In the 80s, TV anthology horror was as much a fixture as leg warmers, John Hughes movies and the musical stylings of Duran Duran. Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone had enjoyed a redux, James Coburn invited us to his Darkroom, a certain pizza-faced dream demon hosted Freddy’s Nightmares, and genre enthusiasts were gripped by the Ray Bradbury Theater. Perhaps the most prosperous purveyor of small screen shivers was producer Richard Rubinstein, who enjoyed phenomenal success with Tales from the Darkside (the brainchild of none other than George Romero, director of the beloved portmanteau picture Creepshow) and Monsters. Bright and breezy 30-minute creature features with their tongue frequently placed firmly in their cheek, these shows were heavily influenced by the infamous EC horror comics of the 1950s, with a perverse sense of morality at the dark heart of the stories.

SNICK - Round 4 1. This object was directly inspired by a failed children's remote control shaped like a hammer. Dan Klitzner, the creator of this object, also designed the spherical Perplexus and intended for this object to make Homer Simpson's "D'oh" sound. A spin-off this object resembles a yo-yo and needs to be (*) "zinged." The original version of this object included "Vox" and "Beat" modes, the latter of which lacks verbal instructions. This object indicated a user's score by playing drum sounds to represent ones and crank sounds to represent tens. An "extreme" version of this object added options for spinning and flicking. For 10 points, name this toy that commands its user to take simple actions including "pull it" and "twist it." ANSWER: Bop-It <Nelson, Video Games> 2. Description acceptable. In one scene, this man is nearly crushed to death at the bottom of a well while the narrator muses on the words "if only." This man crafts a beautiful dollhouse that his spoiled granddaughter rejects, screaming, "I want the one that I saw on the television!" This man loses his faith in Rex, who was traumatically deafened in a flood and was voiced by (*) Hugo Weaving. Esmé is the wife of this man, whose shoe is urinated on at a county fair, prompting him to lower a guess by three ounces. This man sings "If I Had Words" to an animal that he also enters into a sheepherding contest. James Cromwell played, for 10 points, what man who tells the title character of a 1995 family film "That'll do, pig"?
