How does curb-side drop-off work? After turning into camp from Route 23, follow the road about a mile. Signs will direct you to veer right where one-way traffic begins. Turn left into the first parking lot, ZipZone's Lot. There will be 3 - 4 lanes marked with cones, please begin filling those lanes up starting with the farthest lane. Please stay in your vehicle and a staff member will be around to check in your camper. We will ask a series of COVID-19 related questions and take your campers' temperature. We ask that everyone within the vehicle wear a mask while interacting with our staff. Your camper will then be asked to congregate at the edge of the DDC field and a staff member will escort them to their group.

Is Monday drop-off any different? Monday morning check-in is longer than the rest of the week because we need to make sure all forms are filled out completely and accurately. To help expedite the check-in process we have introduced ePact, a secure, electronic forms software. After you register your camper you will get an email inviting you to fill out these electronic forms to share with Camp Mary Orton. We ask that those forms be completed and submitted through ePact two prior to your camp week. If your camper takes medication and it is listed in your ePact forms, please have it in the original bottle with your camper’s name and dosage on the bottle. We legally cannot administer medicine without the original bottle.

How will curbside pick-up work? Pick up is at 3:30 PM. Arrive in the Main Parking Lot and form a straight line starting a the end of the parking lot marked by a large orange barrel. A staff member will ask for a valid ID and call for your camper. EITHER A PARENT OR AN AUTHORIZED ADULT LISTED ON THE CARPOOL SHEET MUST SIGN EACH CAMPER OUT EACH DAY! Remember to wear a mask when interacting with camp staff. We realize that many parents work and traffic can be heavy. We ask that you honor the 8:30 - 3:30 PM day as closely as possible. Any camper not picked up by 3:45 PM a $15.00 fee will be charged for each 15 or part of, that your camper remains at camp past 3:45 PM. This fee must be paid before your child will be permitted to return to camp. Discovery Day Camp

Frequently Asked Questions Cont.

Can I request for campers to be in the same group? We understand many children sign up with a friend. While we do our best to honor friend requests, please understand that with our 1:9 ratio requests cannot be guaranteed. ANY friend request is limited to 1 other friend. If requests are made, the SAME requests must be made from ALL parties. For example, if “Bobby Smith” requests to be placed with “Billy Evans,” then “Billy” must also request “Bobby." All parties must request each other in order for the placement of 2 to be considered. These must be finalized in Active 2 weeks prior to your camp week.

Are you really outside all day? YES! Your child will spend the entire day outside unless weather is severe. When Mother Nature provides us with some “liquid sunshine,” our camp day proceeds as usual. Please pack rain gear! When there is thunder and lighting, all campers are moved to covered or indoor areas. On hotter days, we use our natural shade and take plenty of water breaks!

What if I need to cancel or reschedule? A cancellation at any time will result in a forfeit of your deposit. Registration fees minus the deposit can be refunded when cancellation occurs at least 21 days prior to the start of your child’s camp session. Participants assume risk and responsibility for changes in personal schedule or health. A no-show will not receive a refund. We will be happy to reschedule your child for a different week of camp for an additional fee of $15.00 as long as there are available openings. This fee covers the cost to process a change request. To cancel a reservation, please contact the CMO office at 614.885.1023. You must speak with a CMO administrative staff to cancel. A voicemail message will not be considered a proper notification of cancellation for refund purposes. Discovery Day Camp

Participants assume risk and responsibility for changes in personal schedule or health.

Cancellations To cancel a reservation, please contact the Camp Mary Orton office at 614.885.1023. You must speak with Camp Mary Orton administrative staff to cancel. A voicemail message will not be considered a proper notification of cancellation for refund purposes. Please note that your $50 deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation.

Transferring or Changing Weeks Because of the additional cost to process a change request, there will be a $15 fee assessed for changing your camper’s week once you have registered.

Requesting to be Placed with Friends We have found that when too many campers already know each other in one group, it makes the experience of the campers who are new to the group less positive. Therefore, you can request to be placed with up to 1 other camper. All sets of campers must request one another in order for the placement to be accommodated. Please make these requests on the registration form. In all cases, we will make our best effort to accommodate this request, but cannot guarantee that a request will be accommodated. There are multiple large group activities, including meals, swimming, games, and the overnight campout, so that friends who are not in the same group will still have time with each other throughout the week. Discovery Day Camp Camp & COVID- 19

Please read through the entirety of this section as it outlines the health precautions we are taking and the program changes we have made.

Camp staff will wear cloth face masks when interacting with campers, families and each other unless it is impractical or unsafe for them to do so. Upon arrival, we will do a brief questionnaire and temperature check for all staff, campers, visitors and third party program providers. If any individual has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, they will not be allowed to enter our facility. We have developed a system for curbside drop-off and pick-up to reduce contact between families and limit family and visitors entering our facilities. To the extent possible, groups will not be mixing while doing activities. Groups will be spread out using more picnic shelters and temporary shelters in order to provide required social distancing during meals and activity . Staff and campers will be following the rigorous handwashing protocols mandated by Ohio for child day camps. Additional temporary handwashing stations will be set up at each shelter area where groups are housed. If a child has a fever or other signs of illness while at camp, we will contact the family, and separate the camper from the group in a quarantine area until someone is able to pick them up from camp. Campers will need to bring their own cloth masks. In general, campers will not be wearing masks unless safe social distancing is not possible during the activity. All campers will be expected to put on masks when asked by staff. If wearing a face mask is problematic for your child for medical reasons, please contact the Youth Camps Supervisor for information about the documentation we need for a medical waiver. All campers must have their own water bottle each day when they come to camp. Water is available to refill bottles, but the public drinking fountains at the pool and activity center have been shut off. The pool will be open, and we will follow the released protocols for pool operations. Social distancing will be maintained at the pool, both on the deck and in the water, with reduced numbers in the pool at any given time. Common areas such as bathrooms and frequently touched surfaces will be periodically cleaned and disinfected throughout the day. All gear worn by participants during adventure activities - helmets and harnesses - will be cleaned between uses by different campers. Adventure Academy campers will be issued a sit harness that will be for their sole use on all harnessed activities throughout the week. Hand sanitizer will be used by campers before entering and upon exiting any adventure course activity. It is not possible to sanitize course elements - ropes, hardware, handholds - after each camper’s use of an activity. Rigorous handwashing throughout the day is our best defense against contact transmission of COVID-19. All activities on the adventure course will be open this summer except for the pamper pole. The pamper pole uses a full-body harness and requires the harness to be shared among successive participants during the activity. Logistically it is not possible to clean these in between uses, or to provide enough harnesses for each camper. Discovery Day Camp Camp & COVID- 19 Cont. We require each camper to read and sign our COVID-19 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT This document will be available in your ePACT forms. Below is also a copy for you to review.
