Discovery Day Camp Frequently Asked Questions How does curb-side drop-off work? After turning into camp from Route 23, follow the road about a mile. Signs will direct you to veer right where one-way traffic begins. Turn left into the first parking lot, ZipZone's Lot. There will be 3 - 4 lanes marked with cones, please begin filling those lanes up starting with the farthest lane. Please stay in your vehicle and a staff member will be around to check in your camper. We will ask a series of COVID-19 related questions and take your campers' temperature. We ask that everyone within the vehicle wear a mask while interacting with our staff. Your camper will then be asked to congregate at the edge of the DDC field and a staff member will escort them to their group. Is Monday drop-off any different? Monday morning check-in is longer than the rest of the week because we need to make sure all forms are filled out completely and accurately. To help expedite the check-in process we have introduced ePact, a secure, electronic forms software. After you register your camper you will get an email inviting you to fill out these electronic forms to share with Camp Mary Orton. We ask that those forms be completed and submitted through ePact two weeks prior to your camp week. If your camper takes medication and it is listed in your ePact forms, please have it in the original bottle with your camper’s name and dosage on the bottle. We legally cannot administer medicine without the original bottle. How will curbside pick-up work? Pick up is at 3:30 PM. Arrive in the Main Parking Lot and form a straight line starting a the end of the parking lot marked by a large orange barrel. A staff member will ask for a valid ID and call for your camper. EITHER A PARENT OR AN AUTHORIZED ADULT LISTED ON THE CARPOOL SHEET MUST SIGN EACH CAMPER OUT EACH DAY! Remember to wear a mask when interacting with camp staff. We realize that many parents work and traffic can be heavy. We ask that you honor the 8:30 - 3:30 PM day as closely as possible. Any camper not picked up by 3:45 PM a $15.00 fee will be charged for each 15 minutes or part of, that your camper remains at camp past 3:45 PM. This fee must be paid before your child will be permitted to return to camp. Discovery Day Camp Frequently Asked Questions Cont. Can I request for campers to be in the same group? We understand many children sign up with a friend. While we do our best to honor friend requests, please understand that with our 1:9 ratio requests cannot be guaranteed. ANY friend request is limited to 1 other friend. If requests are made, the SAME requests must be made from ALL parties. For example, if “Bobby Smith” requests to be placed with “Billy Evans,” then “Billy” must also request “Bobby." All parties must request each other in order for the placement of 2 to be considered. These must be finalized in Active 2 weeks prior to your camp week. Are you really outside all day? YES! Your child will spend the entire day outside unless weather is severe. When Mother Nature provides us with some “liquid sunshine,” our camp day proceeds as usual. Please pack rain gear! When there is thunder and lighting, all campers are moved to covered or indoor areas. On hotter days, we use our natural shade and take plenty of water breaks! What if I need to cancel or reschedule? A cancellation at any time will result in a forfeit of your deposit. Registration fees minus the deposit can be refunded when cancellation occurs at least 21 days prior to the start of your child’s camp session. Participants assume risk and responsibility for changes in personal schedule or health. A no-show will not receive a refund. We will be happy to reschedule your child for a different week of camp for an additional fee of $15.00 as long as there are available openings. This fee covers the cost to process a change request. To cancel a reservation, please contact the CMO office at 614.885.1023. You must speak with a CMO administrative staff to cancel. A voicemail message will not be considered a proper notification of cancellation for refund purposes. You must speak with Camp Mary Orton administrative staff to cancel. A voicemail message will not be considered a proper notification of cancellation for refund purposes. Please note that your $50 deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation. Transferring or Changing Weeks Because of the additional cost to process a change request, there will be a $15 fee assessed for changing your camper’s week once you have registered. Requesting to be Placed with Friends We have found that when too many campers already know each other in one group, it makes the experience of the campers who are new to the group less positive. Therefore, you can request to be placed with up to 1 other camper. All sets of campers must request one another in order for the placement to be accommodated.
