Are you a Tasmanian publisher? If so, you are required to give Libraries Tasmania a copy of your publication (Libraries Act 1984 s22). You may also need to give a copy to the National Library of Australia https://www.nla.gov.au/legal-deposit. Similar legislation applies in all Australian States and Territories, and is generall The Tasmanian Libraries Act covers books, e-books, websites, newspapers and magazines, maps, sheet music, sound and video recordings, and anything else that reproduces words, sounds or images. An item is published if copies of it are sold or otherwise distributed to the public. The deposited copy must be the best copy published. For example, if a book is published in both hard cover and paperback, a copy of the hard cover version must be deposited. If a work is published in both electronic and paper form, only the electronic version is required to be deposited unless the paper version is different in layout or content. We keep these copies permanently, so future generations have access to them. We buy additional copies for current reference and lending collections as required.
