Yeah I was going to read this, but putting the Rascal Flats version of life is a highway as the first item totally destroyed any credibility you might have had. This is a populist, trite MOR list that includes some of the worst examples of popular music listened to today. There are a small number that I would respond to positively if they came on the radio but most of these are so over exposed they merit merely ridicule. I cannot imagine driving to these I would be cringing and rolling my eyes too much to concentrate. Any credibility as a music lover is gone if this is what you like. Sorry and yes I am a snob and yes I do have taste. Give it a rest people! Give her some credit for taking the time to compose this list. So much arrogance in the world. Grow up. Any list will be subjective. I just listened to quite a few, and she did a fine job. This is not something curated from the worlds great music critics of which I dont think much of anyway, they having never written or sung anything themselves, add play as well. Just another list. I think it better than average as well. What lists have the people that complained compiled? I see not a one downloaded or linked to one, so it looks like zero. At least she went on a limb and made one, and I enjoyed it. I saw some discrepancies, and I am 53, but this is not grading a college course, just fun, and I thank the person that made it. You don't need a horse to be able to able to jam to this song while going around all your old town roads. Miles went super hard when he first listens to the song in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse , which means you obviously will too in your car. From the guitar to the lyrics on how to not get attached to someone, this is perfect if you're about to go on a date or if you just left one that didn't go so well. Mac Miller's funk filled tracks are always a good choice when trying to find something to cruise to. You might not be able to actually swing from a chandelier when this song comes on, but you definitely won't be able to resist singing along to the chorus when it finally comes on. We might still be counting down the days until these boys finally reunite again, but this is still one of the greatest songs to listen with your friends to remind them how beautiful they are. Like the song says, it's a short life, so might as well try to rap along with one of Drake's biggest hits. Today, I’m here in the studios of BBC 6 Music and joined by Jeff Smith, the man who has chosen the tracks that we’ve been listening to on the radio for years. Now head of music for BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music, Jeff spent most of his career in music. Previously he was head of music for Radio 1 in the late 90s, and has since worked at Capital FM and Napster. In his current role, he is tasked with shaping music policy for two of the BBC’s most popular radio stations, as the technology of how we listen to music is transforming. Jeff, thank you for joining me. Pleasure. Jeff, Radio 2 has a phenomenal 15 million listeners. How do you ensure that the music selection appeals to such a vast audience? It’s a challenge, obviously, to keep that appeal across the board with those listeners, but it appears to be working. As you say, we’re attracting 15.4 million listeners every week, and I think it’s because I try to keep a balance of the best of the best new music, with classic tracks from a whole range of eras, way back to the 60s and 70s. So I think it’s that challenge of just making that mix work and making it work in terms of daytime, and not only just keeping a kind of core audience happy, but appealing to a new audience who would find that exciting and fun to listen to.
