This will be the third Annual Meeting held outside of North America and builds upon our successful meetings in Glasgow and Florence . We have chosen the theme of “From Innovation to Impact ”. This highlights the Society’s dedication not only to world-class innovation in basic research and translational medicine, but also to improvements in women’s reproductive health and healthcare . With Sarah England, PhD as Program Director, we have developed an outstanding programme that includes two Presidential Distinguished Lecturers, the President’s New Investigator Plenary Session, sponsored by the SRI Past Presidents’ Fund, 24 concurrent oral sessions and 12 mini symposia . We have an exciting programme of Lunch and Learn sessions including one dedicated to the exciting topic of genome editing and the future of reproduction . Our first Presidential Distinguished Lecturer is Dennis Lo, FRS, Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine, the Director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences and Chairman of the Department of Chemical Pathology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong . He will be speaking on the “Plasma Nucleic Acids in Health and Disease ”. On Thursday, March 14th at 8:00 a .m . Our second Presidential Distinguished Lecturer, Edith Heard, FRS, Director General of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and leader of the Mammalian Developmental Epigenetics team at the Institut Curi, will speak on Friday, March 15th at 8:00 a .m . Her talk is entitled “Exploring Epigenetic Dynamics During Mammalian Development Using X-chromosome Inactivation” . In addition to the scientific sessions, we also a host Career Development activities including an afternoon Career Development Workshop on Tuesday, followed by Mentor-in-a-Cloud, a New Investigator Forum and a Mid-Career Development Session on Wednesday . We will continue our highly successful Connection Corners on Thursday evening . Finally, the traditional satellites will continue to fill Wednesday . We received a record number of over 40 submissions for mini symposia ideas . They have been distilled by Sarah into 12 exciting mini symposia that include complementary parts of all the submissions with a great balance of investigators from 10 different geographical bases . It is clearly going to be an outstanding meeting . We hope that you have time to relax and enjoy the wonderful cultural delights of Paris – while still getting to the meeting on time the next day! Also, the news that you have all been waiting for: the band is back together again – we once again have The Featles (European tour) which will be on Friday night after the Presidential Address . Enjoy the entertainment that will include some songs from my hometown of Liverpool . On behalf of the SRI Council, Program Committee and Staff, thank you all for attending the outstanding meeting that we have planned for you, so celebrate and connect with your colleagues and friends at SRI .
