Sir started the session by giving a glimpse on the skills, which an individual must possess and how an individual can attain those skills, specifically in Device Engineering on Telecom Domain. The main key points discussed during the session were: i) Global Hiring Market specifications. ii) Recruiting vs Recruitment Marketing. iii) Device Engineering Specifications. iv) Software Development vs Skill gap. v) Niche Skills sets in Software Development. vi) Niche Skills sets in Testing. These points were, based on the Domain of Telecom in Device Engineering. Sir, also discussed on the current scenario where 14 million young people are waiting for jobs, as they are not known with, what are the abilities and skills each one should possess in order to get the jobs. He explained the complete hiring process where, 143000 people goes through the employment and recruitment agencies, and 1.9 million people takes internal staff to help navigate the labor market. He also explained about the specifications of Device Engineering and the Niche skills sets required in Software Development and Testing. The session was concluded, with an interactive round, which included clearing of many doubts the students had pertaining to the topic in the way of asking questions, which were answered. Brief write up on the programme: Technology, especially Artificial Intelligence is taking a big leap and growing at a rapid rate. People have the misconception that it is only applicable in the field of robotics, but it is not entirely true. Today, AI is also becoming a crucial part of web development in the form of various Natural Language Processing units and more. To give an insight into the importance of this to students, Department of Computer Science (PG), Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, organized “AI for Web Development” Tech Talk Series. The resource person for the program was Mr. Ganesan Perumalsamy, Senior Software Engineer, American International Group, Bengaluru. He started the session by giving a brief history of how web development was carried out during earlier days. Then he explained about what AI is and why it is important and various applications in AI. He also explained different aspects in web development and purpose of AI in web development with examples. He also talked about material designing, responsive designs and gave small demo on the same. He concluded the session by explaining about different material design frameworks currently used in the industry. Keeping these in mind, a unique dress code of Modi coats is followed by all Teaching Faculties at SRM Valliammai Engineering College established on September 9, 1999. 139 male Teaching Staff were wearing Modi coats the whole day on January 9, 2019 and the Faculties henceforth will wear Modi coats on all Wednesdays. Considering the Unique Dress Code on a Day, India Book of Records has recognized this special attribute of SRM Valliammai Engineering College and acknowledged the same in its record.
