Dear Parents

Baby News! We have some exciting news! On Tuesday Mrs Butterwick had a beautiful baby boy Edward Arthur. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Butterwick on their new arrival. Mum and baby are both well and we shall look forward to meeting her lovely little boy very soon.

Comic Relief Once again, many thanks for your generous support – the final figure raised was £272.25!

Inter-School Football Our team travelled to on Wednesday to play against and Bubwith. Our players showed amazing strength and displayed some really great skills, and their scores will be added to the Inter-League scoreboard. Thanks for giving your time to support our school, we hope you had a good evening and huge thanks to all parents for helping with the transport arrangements.

Open Afternoons Saturday 23rd March – 2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. Thursday 28th March – 1.30 p.m. – 3 p.m. Eastrington Primary is holding two Open Afternoons for families who may be interested in their child attending our Foundation Stage Unit from September 2019 onwards (either as a 3 year old or 4 year old). This will be an opportunity to have a look at our excellent provision, meet staff and ask any questions. Please pass the word around to friends and family who would like their children to be part of our school. The deadline for FS1 applications for September 2019 is Wednesday 1st May 2019. All information including application forms will be available at the Open Afternoons. Thank you.

PTFA Secret Mother’s Day Shop – in school time – Wednesday 27th March Thanks to everyone who has returned their slips and money in readiness for the very popular Mother’s Day Shop next week. Children will be able to choose gifts from a wide choice on display, all beautifully wrapped to give to your loved ones next weekend.

Phonics Meeting for Parents of Year One Children Just to give you plenty of notice, Mrs Kay will be inviting parents of Year One children to a short meeting on Thursday 4th April at 6 p.m. regarding the Phonics Screening Checks. Further information, with reply slips will be handed out next week. Many thanks.

Pick a Book – The Bookshop in a Box Some of you may have already seen the display box of books on the office reception desk. These have been left with us by a local seller, and are priced at just £1.50 each. Please feel free to pop and take a look. These are lovely books which would be ideal for little gifts and treats. Please make sure you have the correct money as the school office doesn’t always have change, or payments can be made via PayPal.

School Uniform A few weeks ago, we mentioned changes to our School Uniform Policy. Please can I ask that, when you come to buy your black shoes or trainers for September, your child can fasten them independently. Obviously, staff are happy to help but, as you can imagine, fastening numerous pairs of laces every playtime is very time consuming and we want the children to enjoy their time outside.

(more overleaf) Policy Updates A number of new policies have been added to the policy section of our school website. These include our Homework Policy and also our Marking and Feedback Policy. Parents may find the Marking and Feedback Policy useful when looking at their child's books as it includes a key to the marking symbols used by teaching staff. The Homework Policy gives some practical advice for parents and carers including approximate times that children should be spending on homework tasks, dependent on their year group. These are detailed in the chart below:

Pupil Transitions Survey – For Year 6 Pupils and Parents of Year 6 Pupils We have been asked by EIS Support to help them in finding out the views of children, young people, parents, carers and school staff about the support for transition between primary and secondary schools and colleges. This will help them to understand if there is anything they can do to enable young people and their families to feel more prepared for transition and the move to new schools and colleges.

A short survey has been produced by the Educational Psychology Service (East Riding of Council) in collaboration with East Riding Public Health, Health Commissioning Team, Consultation East Riding and with the help of Lesley Hawkins, East Riding College, FISH (Info Group/TYLER Group) and the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Supervision group. Which can be accessed by the links below-

If any Year 6 children, as well as Year 6 parents, would like to complete the survey using the links above, please feel free to do so. These must be completed before 5th April 2019. If you have any queries or require this survey in another language or format please get in contact via EIS Support 01482 392254.

Things we have been asked to mention ..
