Welcome to the Library’s New Look!

The Library has embraced a fresh new look and slogan, “Connect Here,” which reflects your modern Library and all that awaits you here. The Plainfield Library’s mission, “Educate-Captivate-Connect,” has not changed. These three simple words encompass the Library’s service goals for our community. “Connect Here” is how we hope you will access the wealth of opportunity and information available through your Library.

We know there is something for everyone to connect with at the Library: whether it is storytimes and programs for kids of all ages, books on CD for your long commute, computer classes for adults, downloadable music or even, yes, books! Your Library has all of that, and so much more. Plus, you don’t even have to physically come to the Library to connect with our many resources; you can access them online anytime that is convenient for you.

The new logo brings to mind a number of things. The central gear image is symbolic of technology, which plays a large role in today’s Library. It also represents the sun, a source of power and energy. The shape of the horizon nods to the book, which is grounded, tangible and touch- able.

Reading has been the historic constant of the Library. The sun is the new day, representing all the ever-changing formats and services the Library has to offer. The logo, which in turn represents all that is new and fresh, also harkens back to our region’s history, as it can be read as a sun over farm fields.

The Plainfield Library has evolved and adapted along with community needs by adding services such as online magazines, eBooks and eAudiobooks, classes on using Pinterest and LinkedIn, a Job Club, programs and activities specifically for children with special needs and so much more. Yet even while doing so, we remain rooted in our beginnings and mindful of our history. So whether you are committed to the physical book, or want to do your reading online, everyone in our community can connect here for information, education, entertainment, inspiration and opportunity.
