We would like to take this opportunity to give you some information regarding the Costume Shop Staff, our Costume Shop Facilities, and our Fitting Protocol. C OSTUME S HOP S TAFF Melissa Caldwell-Weddig – Costume Shop Supervisor [email protected] The Costume Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all costume stock, materials and equipment used for the construction of costumes. The Costume Supervisor manages all use of costume stock with production needs, rentals and all events. Ensures that show comes in on time, on budget and within the scope designed. Kyle Schellinger – Cutter Draper [email protected] The Cutter/Draper is responsible for the patterning, cutting of mockups, fitting, final fabric cutting, construction, and preparation of all assigned production costumes while maintaining the vision of the costume designer within necessary budget and time constraints. Elizabeth Aaron – Costumer and Wardrobe Supervisor [email protected] Amber Williams – Costumer and Wardrobe Supervisor [email protected] Costumers stitch and finish all assigned costumes per draper instructions. The Wardrobe Supervisor heads the Wardrobe Crew and coordinates the care, management and organization of all costumes throughout the dress rehearsals and performances. The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the execution of the Costume Designs for all productions when in the space and through the run. This position will assist with the day to day operations of producing and maintaining costumes, and provide assistance with costumes and wardrobe for all Ballet Memphis productions and performance-related special events. Organization In its 35th season, Ballet Memphis is one of the nation’s most celebrated professional ballet companies. The Ballet Memphis professional company produces four mainstage productions a season at various local performing venues, including the historic Orpheum Theatre, as well as smaller performances throughout the year at Ballet Memphis studios and in the community. Ballet Memphis attract audiences of 25,000+ annually, has a School with over 300 enrolled students, and Pilates + Wellness programs that sees hundreds of clients weekly. General Description The Costume Technician is a part-time position reporting to the Wardrobe Supervisor & Resident Costume Designer. This position works closely with Company Dancers, the Stage Manager, and other Costume Shop employees to facilitate the use of costumes in rehearsals and performances. In daily operations, the Costume Technician primarily assists with building, altering, embellishing, and repairing costumes for all Ballet Memphis productions and will be a part of the costume team that facilitates the runs of all performances at the theater. This position is expected to work some nights and weekends as determined by the production calendar. During performance weeks, the costume team will run all Ballet Memphis productions, including assisting Company Dancers, overseeing hired dressers, performing quick changes, and repairing costumes as needed.
