    michał piotr mrozowicki uniwersytet gdański ———— O HISTORII PARYSKICH INSCENIZACJI PIERŚCIENIA NIBELUNGA (1893–1933) ules Pasdeloup był wielkim nieobecnym na wagnerowskim festiwalu w Bayreuth J w sierpniu 1876 r., podczas którego po raz pierwszy w całości wykonano tetra- logię Pierścień Nibelunga. Ten niestrudzony propagator muzyki Ryszarda Wagnera w Paryżu uznał za stosowne zbojkotować to wielkie wydarzenie z powodu gallofo- bicznej „twórczości” niemieckiego kompozytora z okresu wojny francusko-pruskiej lat 1870–71. Nie widział jednak nic niestosownego w tym, by zaledwie dwa miesiące po zakończeniu festiwalu, 29 X 1876 r., włączyć do programu swego koncertu w Cyr- ku Zimowym Marsz żałobny na śmierć Zygfryda z III aktu Zmierzchu bogów. Był to pierwszy fragment Pierścienia Nibelunga wykonany w Paryżu. I tak oto paryska prezentacja wagnerowskiej Tetralogii zaczęła się od samego niemal końca. Dodajmy, że zaczęła się nie bez przeszkód. Podobnie jak piętnaście lat wcześniej na premierze Tannhäusera, wrogo do Wagnera nastawiona część publiczności pojawiła się w sali koncertowej uzbrojona w gwizdki. Użyła ich, gdy Jules Pasdeloup i jego muzycy zaczęli wykonywać czwartą, przedostatnią pozycję programu, wagnerowski marsz ża- łobny. Wysłuchanie utworu momentami stawało się niemożliwe, co wzburzyło nawet nienależącego do entuzjastów Wagnera dziennikarza Le Figaro Alberta Wolffa, który skrytykował zachowanie publiczności w artykule „Le scandale d’hier” (Wczorajszy skandal) 1, opublikowanym na pierwszej stronie dziennika. Po tym burzliwym popołudniu Jules Pasdeloup na niemal trzy lata zawiesił swo- ją misję zaznajamiania paryżan z utworami Wagnera. W 1879 r. podjął ją jednak na nowo, a do wykonywania kolejnych fragmentów Pierścienia Nibelunga powrócił 19 XII 1880 r., włączając do swego koncertu Pożegnanie Wotana i Czar ognia, w wy- konaniu Octave’a Labisa.
