Ai fini dell’indirizzo zootecnico delle razze tutelate, per tutti i soggetti inseriti nel Registro dei riproduttori selezionati viene tenuta traccia nel data base dell’ENCI. Il sistema informatico permetterà la consultazione del Registro in argomento attraverso il sito dell’Ente producendo pedigree differenziati per i soggetti nati da riproduttori selezionati. Oltre a ciò, al proprietario del cane che entra nel Registro dei Riproduttori Selezionati verrà inviato un attestato di distinzione a cura dell’ENCI. Per le razze tutelate dalle rispettive associazioni specializzate, non presenti nell’elenco di seguito riportato, si precisa che i requisiti verranno di volta in volta resi noti al termine della loro definizione. I requisiti di seguito illustrati, deliberati dal Consiglio Direttivo dell’ENCI, sono stati definiti sulla base delle proposte fornite dalla Commissione Tecnica Centrale che ha valutato le indicazioni pervenute dalle associazioni specializzate. Aggiornamento del 3 giugno 2020 3 REQUISITI DI CARATTERE GENERALE: Per ogni razza ammessa alla riproduzione selezionata, la qualifica morfologica deve essere ottenuta nell'ambito delle verifiche zootecniche dai soggetti che abbiamo compiuto il 18° mese di età. a) Al fine di contenere un eccesso di imbreeding in popolazioni poco numerose, per tutte quelle razze in cui la popolazione ha una numerosità di cuccioli iscritti/anno ai Registri genealogici italiani inferiore o uguale a 100: • i cuccioli per poter essere convalidati figli di riproduttori selezionati devono avere i quattro nonni differenti; • il requisito minimo morfologico è Molto Buono sia per i maschi, che per le femmine. Potential owners of Sporting dogs need to realize that most require regular, invigorating exercise. The breeds of the AKC Sporting Group were all developed to assist hunters of feathered game. These “sporting dogs” (also referred to as gundogs or bird dogs) are subdivided by function—that is, how they hunt. They are spaniels, pointers, setters, retrievers, and the European utility breeds. Of these, spaniels are generally considered the oldest. Early authorities divided the spaniels not by breed but by type: either water spaniels or land spaniels. The land spaniels came to be subdivided by size. Anna Maria Villa and Sal Manzo, both terrific entertainers and I have recommended each of them to the Culture & Heritage Festival Committee for their Event this summer After each event we went out to dinner and had a wonderful time with our Lodge Brothers & Sisters. Remember one of the best things about being part of the Lodge, is that many of our members enjoy activities outside of Lodge functions and events. I want to thank my wife for making the arrangements for us. It’s been a fast two years. I leave the Presidency with a sense of accomplishment. I am confident that Luisa and Dottie will do a fantastic job leading the lodge with integrity and energy. It’s important that you attend the March 4th Installation Ceremony to support the newly elected officers and thank the outgoing officers for a job well done. The aim of this large-scale retrospective study was to estimate the mean litter size in a large population of purebred dogs and to describe some factors that might influence the litter size. A total of 10,810 litters of 224 breeds registered in the Norwegian Kennel Club from 2006 to 2007 were included in the study. The overall mean litter size at birth was 5.4 (Ϯ 0.025). A generalized linear mixed model with a random intercept for breed revealed that the litter size was significantly influenced by the size of the breed, the method of mating and the age of the bitch. A significant interaction between breed size and age was detected, in that the expected number of puppies born decreased more for older bitches of large breeds.

    The Barbet - AKC’s Latest Addition to the Sporting Group The Canine Chronicle November/December 2019 Click here to read the complete article196 – November/December 2019 By Judy Descutner Hickory Tavern Farm The American Kennel Club has added 27 fully recognized breeds since 2010, including the 2015 addition of both the Spanish Water Dog and Lagotto Romagnolo. The Sporting group expands again in January 2020 with the addition of their French cousin, the Barbet, an agile marsh retriever with an affable and sunny disposition. Devoted, intelligent, responsive, and joyful, the Barbet is a medium sized, curly coated dog with a distinctive beard (barbé), a whimsical appearance, and an influential history. Sharing some of the same relations as other European curly coated breeds (Portuguese Water Dog, Spanish Water Dog, Irish Water Spaniel, Lagotto Romagnolo, etc.), this French water dog’s standard was first written in 1894 for the French Société Centrale Canine. The Barbet has been recognized by the FCI for 65 years and history suggests that the Poodle, Bichon Frise, and several other breeds took their foundation from the Barbet. Over 500 Barbet are currently registered with AKC. The majority of these dogs were born in America from a foundation of stock imported mostly from Canada, The Netherlands, France, and Poland. Barbet have spent the past three years in AKC’s Miscellaneous group where dogs have earned titles in conformation, obedience, rally, dock diving, agility, coursing ability, farm dog, scent work, trick dog, therapy, and Canine Good Citizen. The Barbet Club of America was formed in 2009 with the goal of gaining full AKC recognition, which will put the Barbet on par with its standing in Canada and FCI countries.
