He began work as a presenter on RTE's Youngline programme, then moved to Radio 2 as a reporter, before becoming a television continuity announcer and scriptwriter. Since leaving RTE, he has been involved in independent film and video production as well as lecturing in broadcasting. He now lives and works in the UK. We also have a special event planned on Saturday 9th at the beautiful Savoy Cinema, just around the corner at Heaton Moor. The Savoy is very much like ‘The Bijou’ from The Smallest Show on Earth, (without all the problems!), so we decided to hold a proper Saturday Morning Pictures Show on Saturday 9th October 2021 from 9am-12pm – bring your pop guns and wear your badges! There will be a special guest and a separate Film Quiz with Afternoon Tea in the afternoon from 1-4pm. It will be a smaller event than The Plaza on the Sunday so get your tickets quick! No início da década de 1930, os grandes estúdios californianos desenvolveram um modelo para a comédia musical, que se tornaria emblemático do cinema de Hollywood até meados da década de 1960. Para o efeito, apostaram no mais popular vocalista deste período, Bing Crosby, o crooner cujo estilo influenciou gerações de cantores norte-americanos, entre os quais estrelas como Dean Martin, Elvis Presley e Pat Boone, que foram os grandes protagonistas de uma tendência do filme musical de hollywoodiano que privilegiava cantores populares de estilo naturalista, capazes de interpretar canções sem evidenciar a técnica vocal.
