NYU Shanghai is NYU’s newest degree­granting campus, joining NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York. Shanghai is an endlessly exciting place, rich in discoveries and new opportunities. Witness the development of a city that is quickly becoming a major player on the world stage. A fast­moving, cosmopolitan place, Shanghai has opportunities that attract a variety of interests. You have made an important decision to live and study abroad as a way of learning about another part of the world. We have planned an educational experience for you in Shanghai, both inside and outside of the classroom, that we hope you will find challenging and enriching. This semester, challenge yourself to learn more about yourself, your peers and the world around you in completely new ways. You have been afforded a unique experience that is both exciting and demanding. We want to welcome you to connect with the NYU Shanghai community here, but beyond that to connect with the city itself, and all it has offer. Remember that you are always an ambassador of your home school and your home country. We look forward to welcoming you into a community focused on developing a truly global perspective. In conjunction with the study away in Shanghai website ​ (https://shanghai.nyu.edu/academics/study­away/in), the handbook is also intended to be a useful informational resource for you throughout your time as a study away student in Shanghai. The Manager of Global Affairs serves as an on­site ​ advisor to support study away students academically. If you are an NYU student, the manager in Shanghai may liaise with your home school academic advisor to help you resolve academic issues. Please direct questions to [email protected]. ​ ​ Academic Resource Center (ARC) Email: [email protected] ​ The Academic Resource Center is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and learning beyond the classroom. We help students develop essential academic study skills through free ​ one­on­one tutoring, study groups, academic skills workshops, academic coaching, and much more. Chinese Language Clinic Email: [email protected] ​ The Chinese Language Clinic is a free service for students enrolled in all levels of Chinese courses. The Clinic is staffed by Chinese instructors and Teaching Assistants who help students with Chinese speaking, writing, and grammar. Students are recommended to make appointments at Room 965, but walk­ins are also welcomed if the slot is available. 7 Academic Associates Email: [email protected] ​ The Office of Academic Associates is responsible for ordering and distributing textbooks for students. Additionally, they provide administrative support to courses. ● Student Life Orientation Email: [email protected] ​ The orientation team prepares you for your arrival at NYU Shanghai, helps you to get oriented to the city and the campus, and makes your transition to NYU Shanghai as smooth and stress­free as possible. Our team is available to answer any questions you have about life at NYU Shanghai and can direct you to appropriate resources. Student Mobility Email: shanghai.student­[email protected] ​ The Student Mobility team supports students for inbound and outbound immigration issues. They provide students with visa consultation and help students get the appropriate visas/ residence permits required to enter and study in China. Any questions related to visas/passports/hukou/residence permits, can be directed to the Mobility Team at shanghai.student­[email protected] Residential Life Email: [email protected] ​ The Residential Life Team is responsible for your experience in the residence halls, ensuring an environment that supports your academic goals and personal interests. The office also creates a supportive yet independent community, transitioning students to the experience of living away from home. Finally, the office is responsible for upholding a high standard of conduct and safety in the residence halls. 8 Health and Wellness Email: [email protected] ​ Office Number: 021­2059­5353 The Health and Wellness Center provides medical and counseling support and promotes health literacy through skills focused workshops in a warm and welcoming environment. The Health and Wellness program addresses the issues impacting students from a physical, emotional and health literacy perspective and provides activities and resources that empower students to achieve optimal health.

  • Transportation the Conference Will Be Held in North Zhongshan Road
    Transportation The conference will be held in North Zhongshan Road campus of East China Normal University (ECNU). The address is: No. 3663, North Zhongshan Road, Putuo, Shanghai. The hotel where all participants will stay is Yifu Building (逸夫楼) located on the campus. Arrival by flights: There are two airports in Shanghai: the Pudong Airport in east Shanghai and the Hongqiao Airport in west Shanghai. Both are convenient to get to the North Zhongshan Road campus of ECNU. At the airport, you can take taxi or metro to North Zhongshan Road Campus of ECNU. Taxi is recommended in terms of its convenience and time saving. Our students will be there for helping you to find the taxi. By taxi From Pudong Airport: about one hour and 200 CNY when traffic is not busy. From Hongqiao Airport: about 30 minutes and 60 CNY when traffic is not busy. Please print the following tips if you like “请带我去华东师范大学中山北路校区正门” in advance and show it to the taxi driver. The Chinese words in tips mean "Please take me to the main gate of North Zhongshan Road Campus of ECNU". By metro From Pudong Airport: 1. Metro Line 2 (6:00 - 22:00)->Zhongshan Park (中山公园) station (Note: exchange at Guanglan Road station(广兰路)), then take taxi for about 10 minutes and 14 CNY cost to North Zhongshan Road Campus of ECNU, or take the bus 67 for 2 stops and get off at ECNU station（华东师大站）instead. 2.     Does bike sharing increase house prices? Evidence from micro-level data in Shanghai Zhengyi Zhou (School of Finance, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics) Hongchang Li (School of Economics and Management, Beijing Jiaotong University) Anming Zhang (Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia) This version: October 22, 2019 Abstract: This paper studies the impact of bike sharing on house prices. We combine the order-level records of a major sharing bike company with the house-level listing data and the Baidu Map point-of-interest (POI) data. We find that bike sharing has a negative effect on house prices. For an average house, the net house price premium caused by bike sharing is -0.48% in the post-launch period. However, the interaction of bike sharing with subway stations has an offsetting positive effect, indicating that bike sharing is a good solution to the “last-mile” problem. Unlike subway stations, the interaction between bus stations and bike sharing does not lead to a premium. At an aggregate level, the net effect of bike sharing is positive (negative, respectively) in zones that are close to (far from, respectively) the city center. This is consistent with our micro-level findings, because the density of subway network decreases with the distance from the city center, and that bike-sharing is more likely to be a complement to the subway network in downtown than in the suburbs.
