Howard

Renowned Australian cellist now back in as Head of Strings at ANAM after 30 years based in Vienna, with a solo and chamber music career spanning five continents. He born in Canberra and after studies with Nelson Cooke moved to Vienna, studying with Tobias Kühne, André Navarra, Boris Pergamenshikov and William Pleeth. Winning the ABC Young Performers Competition, and a finalist in the Prague International Cello competition, concerto performances include Sydney Opera House, Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Berlin Schauspielhaus, Suntory Hall Tokyo and Casals Festival Prades. A regular principal cello with Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg and Vienna Radio Symphony, he is a long-standing member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, working regularly with the world’s leading conductors and soloists, participating in over 100 CD and video recordings with such artists as Abbado, Harnoncourt, Solti, Haitink, Kremer, Argerich and Domingo.

Emily Beynon

Emily Beynon is principal flute of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam. Born in Wales, she began her flute studies as a junior at the Royal College of Music with Margaret Ogonovsky and then went on to study with William Bennett at the Royal Academy and with Alain Marion in Paris. Equally at home in front of the orchestra as in its midst, Emily performs regularly as concerto soloist and also as chamber musician. She is frequently heard on BBC radio and Classic FM, and has recorded eleven solo discs to date. A passionate and dedicated teacher, Emily is regularly invited to give masterclasses all over the world.

Stephen Stirling

Stephen Stirling is a renowned horn soloist. Since studying at the Royal Northern College of Music with Ifor James and later with Julian Baker, he has worked mostly in the rather rarefied world of chamber music. He enjoys an enormously varied career travelling all over the world, particularly relishing playing in unusual and far-flung places.

He has broadcast concertos on BBCTV and Radio 3, and appeared with orchestras such as the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Orchestra of St John’s, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and the BBC National Orchestra

Stefanie Farrands

Violist Stefanie Farrands has been Principal Violist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra since 2015, after living and studying in Berlin from 2010 with renowned Violist Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik, Hanns Eisler Berlin. Prior to Berlin she was the recipient of the Georgina Grosvenor Scholarship at ANAM studying with Roger Bennedict and Alice Waten in Melbourne. Stefanie has performed with many renowned orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Camerata Salzburg and Spira Mirabilius. In she is a regular guest with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and she is a core member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. She has appeared as Soloist with the ACO Collective, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, AYO Young Symphonists and in 2011 she was Soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performing the Australian Premiere of Olga Neuwirths viola concerto.

Andrew Haveron

Andrew Haveron has established himself as one of the most sought after violinists of his generation. The highest British prize-winner at the prestigious 'Paganini' competition for the last fifty years, Andrew studied in London at the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music.

With unrivalled versatility Andrew is a highly respected soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster. As a soloist Andrew has performed concertos with conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Sir Roger Norrington, Jiří Bělohlávek, Stanislaw Skrowachewski, David Robertson and John Wilson, performing a broad range of well known and less familiar repertoire with many of the UK’s finest orchestras.

As a chamber musician he was first violin in the international acclaimed Brodsky String Quartet and has been concertmaster for BBC Symphony, London Philharmonic and Sydney Symphony.

Sara Macliver

Sara Macliver is one of Australia’s most popular and versatile artists, appearing in opera, concert and recital performances and on numerous recordings. She is regarded as one of the leading exponents of Baroque repertoire in Australia.

Sara Macliver has is a regularly performs with Symphony Australia Orchestras in , Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Queensland and Tasmania, as well as Musica Viva, Melbourne Chorale, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Australia Bach Ensemble and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs among others. She has particular association with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, with whom she recorded her first CD If Love’s a Sweet Passion, which was a finalist for the prestigious Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Award for Best Classical Release

Ian Munro

Ian Munro has emerged over recent years as one of Australia’s most distinguished and awarded musicians, with a career that has taken him to thirty countries in Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia. His award in 2003 of Premier Grand Prix at the Queen Elisabeth International Competition for composers (Belgium) is a unique achievement for an Australian and follows on from multiple prizes in international piano competitions in Spain (Maria Canals), Italy (Busoni), Portugal (Vianna da Motta) and the UK, where his second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1987 established his international profile.
