It is important to scientifcally select suitable areas for artifcial planting and promotion, and to understand the status and potential of Z. bungeanum resources. Results: The maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model and ArcGIS technologies were used to analyze the climatic suitabil- ity of Z. bungeanum based on known distribution data, combined with environmental data in China. Z. bungeanum was mainly distributed in subtropical and mid-eastern warm temperate regions. The total suitable area (high and medium suitability) accounted for 32% of China’s total land area, with high suitability areas composing larger percent- age, reaching 1.93 106 km2. The suitable range (and optimum value) of the key environmental variables afecting the distribution of ×Z. bungeanum were the maximum temperature in February of 2.8–17.7 °C (10.4 °C), the maximum temperature in March of 8.6–21.4 °C (16.3 °C), the maximum temperature in December of 2.5–17.1 °C (9.9 °C), the maximum temperature in November of 7.7–22.2 °C (14.5 °C) and the mean temperature in March of 3.2–16.2 °C (12.0 °C). -

In traditional medicine practice, various parts of Z. limonella are used for the treatment of dental caries, febrifugal, sudorific, rheumatism, diuretic, stomach ache and diarrhea. Secondary metabolites have been isolated the stems, stem barks, and fruits. The plant contains alkaloid, amide, lignin, coumarin and terpenoid compounds. The extracts of the various parts, essential oil from the fruits and some pure compounds of Z. limonella have been found to have biological activities, for example, mosquito repellent and mosquito larvicidal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antitumour properties. -

Sarg. (Sapindales: Rutaceae) in southern Florida. Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) is principal vector of the bacteria ‘Candidatus Liberibacter spp.’ causal agent of huanglongbing (HLB) or citrus greening disease. Both vector and disease are now well established in Florida and also reported throughout the Americas and Asia. The host range of D. citri is limited to citrus and some rutaceous relatives. Additional vectors and host plants could accelerate spread of HLB in citrus and threaten endangered species such as Zanthoxylum coriaceum A. Rich. and Zanthoxylum flavum Vahl. Experiments were conducted to evaluate adult survival, reproduction and nymphal development of psyllids on 3 Citrus and 4 Zanthoxylum species as well as orange jasmine, Murraya paniculata (Syn. M. exotica) (Sapindales: Rutaceae), a common ornamental and preferred host of D. citri. Leuronota fagarae in single male−female pairs at 24 °C lived an average 4-47 days, 4-12 fold longer on Zanthoxylum spp. (except Z. flavum) than on citrus. -

Local people have remarkable detailed knowledge of species identity, characteristics and their specific uses. These traditional knowledges and practices are disappearing particularly due to unplanned land use change and over-explotation of the species. Some species are under serious threat indicating urgent need of documentation of useful plants with their uses and indigenous practices. An attempt has also been made to recommend some conservation measures for preservation and sustainable uses of these species. The high Andean forests are especially vulnerable to this type of soil erosion. The corporate purpose of ‘Reforestadora El Guásimo S.A.S.’ is to use wood from its plantations, but it also follows the parameters of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). For this reason, it carries out reforestation activities and programs and, very particularly, it is interested in carrying out ecological restoration processes in some critical sites. The study area is located between 2000 and 2750 masl and is considered a low Andean humid forest (bmh-MB). The average annual precipitation rate is 2057 mm and the average temperature is around 11 ºC. The soil has a sandy loam texture with low pH, which limits the amount of nutrients it can absorb. FAO (2014) suggests that around 10 genera are enough for a proper restoration. After a bibliographic revision, the genera chosen were Alchornea, Billia, Ficus, Inga, Meriania, Miconia, Ocotea, Protium, Prunus, Psidium, Symplocos, Tibouchina, and Weinmannia. Two inventories from 2013 and 2019, helped to determine different biodiversity indexes to check the survival of different species and to suggest the adequate characteristics of the individuals for a successful vegetative stakes reforestation. -

Family: Rutacea Synonym: Fagara holtzianum Uses Vernacular/ common names Pesticidal – It contains a variety of compounds; alkaloids, (English): Coral knobwood, lime Prickly ash, wild lime amides, flavonoids, lignans, sterols and terpenes, which (Kiswahili): Mjafari can be used as biopesticides. (Giriama): Mdungu/Msasa Medicinal – Dry root powder is used as a porridge to (Digo): Mjafari dume treat convulsion in Tanzania. The root extract is drunk or inhaled to treat hardened abscesses. Root powder or scrapings used as a dressing. Leaf sap is also drunk for treatment of malarial fever. Botanical description It is a shrub or small tree 2-15m in height and up to 35 cm in diameter. Trunk is corky with 3.5-5 cm bosses. Branches are glaborous with straight prickles, 2-7 mm long. Leaves are 7-9 folialte, oblong-eliptical to ovate leaflets, obtuse to shortly acuminate at apex. Lateral leaflets have 1.5-4 mm long petiolules. Flowers are branched terminal, clustered of 4 on pedicels, 1-4 mm long, unisexual on different trees. Petals are white, 1.5-3 mm long. Male flowers with 4 stamens, variable in length, ovary rudimentary. Female Distribution and habitat flowers without staminoides, with superior ovary, 2 carpels Zanthoxylum holtzianum (Engl.) syn. Zanthoxylum fagara partly united. (Engl.) is a tree, 2-15 m tall, endemic to Tanzania, native to temperate and sub-tropical regions in the world. In Africa, Fruit and Seed description it is distributed in Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique. -

Rasuwa district is rich in variety of flora especially medicinal plants and ethnic people (mainly Tamang) are familiar with medicinal resources and possess rich ethno-pharmacological knowledge. These resources provide huge opportunities for community development and livelihood improvement.
