  • RD PRO12 Preview Round 10
RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 Round 10: 20 & 21 December 2013 ROUND 10 PREVIEWS The focus returns once again to the RaboDirect PRO12 after two weeks of European competition, with Irish Provinces topping three of the six Heineken Cup Pools. Ulster are the stand-out performers so far, the only team with a 100 per cent winning record still left in the competition, garnering 18 pool points in the process. Munster and Leinster, both also past winners of the trophy, top their respective pools, whilst Cardiff Blues, the top placed Welsh Region, are only two points shy of their pool leaders, reigning champions Toulon. The Irish provinces are faring well in the RaboDirect PRO12 as well, with three of the four Play-Off places taken up by them, Munster pulling out a four point lead at the top of the table as the half-way point of the season approaches. They are in action at Musgrave Park on Saturday evening when they face Scarlets, the Welsh region having won at this venue last time they visited. The round starts off on Friday night with the remaining three teams currently in the Play-Off Zone – Leinster, Glasgow Warriors and Ulster - all in action. Second placed Leinster travel to Murrayfield buoyed by the fact they have won their last five contests with Edinburgh, whilst in Glasgow, Benetton Treviso are the visitors. Having led in the early part of the season Warriors now reside in third place in the table, level on points with Ulster and need a win to keep their season on track.

RaboDirect PRO12 :PREVIEW 2012/13 Round 13 : 4 & 5 January 2013 ROUNDS 11 & 13 PREVIEWS Despite their loss to Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday, as we enter the New Year, Ulster remain clear at the top of the RaboDirect PRO12 table with a 9 point lead over second placed Scarlets, who they welcome to Ravenhill on Friday night. That is just one of four games on Friday, two in Scotland and one in Wales, as the teams leave behind the festive local derbies and once more take to the road. Edinburgh Rugby welcome Irish opposition in the form of European champions, Leinster, whilst fourth placed Glasgow Warriors face Benetton Treviso at Scotstoun knowing the Italians defeated them on their last trip to the city. The fourth game on Friday sees the second Italian outfit, Zebre, who are still looking for their first win in the tournament take on champions Ospreys at Liberty Stadium. There are two games on Saturday, both in Ireland, for Connacht and Munster. With their round 11 game against Ospreys still outstanding, by the time Newport Gwent Dragons travel to Galway, they could have overtaken their opponents, Connacht, in the table. The round wraps up in Cork on Saturday evening, when Cardiff Blues will be hoping to improve on their record when travelling to play Munster as they have not won in the province since 2007. NOTE: The RaboDirect PRO12 table, top scorers, Play-Off Zone and Specsavers Fairplay League will be updated following the completion of the outstanding Round 11 game between Newport Gwent Dragons and Ospreys.

RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2012/13 Round Ten: 30th November – 2nd December 2012 ROUND TEN PREVIEWS The pick of the games in the RaboDirect Round10 will not take place until Sunday, when second placed Scarlets welcome table-topping Ulster to Llanelli. Ulster are the only team with a 100% winning record still intact, although they were held close in their last two games in Italy, but Scarlets, having claimed the scalp of Munster in Cork last weekend, will be anxious to add another Irish Province to their tally. Ulster have already pulled out a 6 point lead over Scarlets at the top of the table, and should this result go their way could see that gap increase into double figures. The round starts on Friday night with reigning champions Ospreys, facing Cardiff Blues at Liberty Stadium, where the visitors will need all their skills if they are to overcome the odds and return with the points, something they have only achieved once on Ospreys soil since the regions were formed. The remaining four games are on Saturday, one in Italy and three in Ireland. Newport Gwent Dragons are the third Welsh Region to visit Stadio Monigo in Treviso this season, and none of them have yet come away with a win. Zebre, make their first visit to the home of the European champions, Leinster. The Italian outfit lost by the slimmest of margins the last time they played an Irish province , the rearranged game against Ulster, but the RDS in Dublin will be a very hard place to go in search of a maiden win.

RaboDirect PRO12 :PREVIEW 2012/13 Round Eleven : 21 & 22 December 2012 ROUND 11 PREVIEWS After their forays into Europe, this weekend sees the start of the festive derby fixtures for the RaboDirect PRO12 teams. Ulster still lead the way with a perfect ten out of ten in this competition, a full nine points clear of their nearest rivals, Scarlets, and are one of three Irish Provinces currently in the Play-Off Zone. They welcome Leinster to Ravenhill on Friday night, a victory for the visitors would close the gap between themselves and the leaders to single figures, a loss could, put their own top four place into jeopardy. The other all Irish fixture is on Saturday when fourth placed Munster travel to the Sportsground to play Connacht, who are looking for a clean sweep over the three other Irish Provinces in Galway this season. Munster have been in the top five of the table all season, but any slipup in Galway could let Glasgow Warriors or Ospreys take over their coveted Play-Off spot. There is only one all Welsh derby before Christmas as the round 11 game between Newport Gwent Dragons and Ospreys has been held back until New Year’s Eve, so the focus on Friday night will be in Cardiff where second placed Scarlets are the visitors at the Arms Park. Scarlets need to be aware of the teams both above and below them in the table; whilst they will be anxious to close the gap on the leaders, they must be aware that any slip up could see them lose the home Play-Off berth they currently hold.

RaboDirect PRO12 : PREVIEW 2012/13 Round 22, 3rd May 2013 ROUND 22 PREVIEW With just four points separating the top three teams who have already qualified for the RaboDirect PRO12 Play-Offs, no-one can yet be certain of their position in the table. With all six games being played on Friday night, the focus of attention will be in Ireland, as Glasgow Warriors face Connacht at the Sportsground in Galway, whilst Ulster welcome Cardiff Blues to Ravenhill. A win for Ulster will put them well clear at the top of the table, anything less and they have to start looking over their shoulders at what their nearest rivals are doing. Glasgow Warriors are the only one of the top three playing away from home, and carry the added disadvantage of having won one game less than the two team who are above them, so must go all out for a win and see what happens elsewhere to secure home advantage in the knockout stage. The pick of the final round of this RaboDirect PRO12 campaign must be the repeat of last season’s final, when Leinster host Ospreys at the RDS in Dublin. Leinster have already secured a Play-Off spot, the question is whether it will be home or away, whilst Ospreys must win, and other results go their way, if they are to snatch the fourth and final Play-Off place from Welsh neighbours, Scarlets. Scarlets, four points clear of Ospreys and one win to the better of their rivals, have the added advantage of playing their last regular season game at home, but even so must be wary as they lost to Benetton Treviso in the reverse of this fixture earlier in the season.
