The duo finally discover a band called the High Numbers with that perfect rebellious restlessness. Abandoning their plans to make a film, they instead decide to mentor and manage this group, later called, The Who. The result was rock ‘n’ roll history. Director James D. Cooper. Sunday November 8th ​ 12:00PM HOW I GOT OVER (1 HR 27 MINS.)­ HOW I GOT OVER follows 15 formerly homeless and/or incarcerated women­ now living in N Street Village, a community for addiction recovery­ as they craft an original play, based on their harrowing true­life stories. As observers of their creative process to the rehearsals for their Kennedy Center performance, we bear witness to their transformations from victim to artist, and to the performing arts’ capacity to heal trauma, create connection, and start a conversation. This time she woke up, half­dressed, on a Florida beach, 1100 miles from home. When she's arrested for public drunkenness and attacking a police officer, Gracie is given a choice: six months in jail or 90 meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous in 90 days in the small town she's landed in. She's not used to strangers caring about her, but perhaps the power of community can help her sidestep the landmines lining her path to sobriety. Outside of the classroom, Dan's life is in shambles. Thirteen­year­old Drey is a student in his class and a player on his basketball team with her own problems. Dan and Drey's relationship changes when Drey catches Dan, believing he is alone, smoking crack in the girl's locker room bathroom. Their resulting friendship, which is seen as inappropriate by the few who know, is based on each being unable to deal with their own life, but feeling like they can be at least a minor salvation in the other's life. Break­Raffle 13 Minutes 6:00PM WARNING: TAKE ONLY AS DIRECTED (27 MINS.)­ (2014) Based on a true story, with contemporary music and realistic situations, the film explores the societal pressures on today's teens including grades, college looming on the horizon, boredom, and relationships. Are drugs their solution? While the film raises more questions that it answers, the goal is to provoke thoughtful discussions within the home, among peers and in the classroom.
