Harvest Church authentic & life changing Greetings! I am pleased to announce that the group TRUTH from Mobile, Alabama is coming in concert to Harvest Church, Saturday, December 10 at 6:30 pm for their TRUTH 40th Anniversary Christmas Tour. During the late 1960s, John Roger Breland had a dream to start a Christian band. His goal was to share the message of the Gospel through music. In June of 1971, Breland’s dream became a reality with the formation of the group TRUTH. By the beginning of the 21st century, TRUTH had 22 members and had traveled to all 50 American states and 21 different countries. In 2000, TRUTH was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. The TRUTH Legacy Collection, with such songs as Majesty, Jesus Never Fails, and There Is A Hope, was released in 2001 shortly after the group performed its farewell tour. Over the 31 years that TRUTH toured, 60 albums were recorded and about 300 to 400 people were a part of the group. Some of the former members include the guys from 4HIM, Alicia Williamson Garcia, Jody McBrayer and Melissa Greene from Avalon, Russ Lee of Newsong, Natalie Grant, and Leigh Cappillno from Point of Grace. TRUTH’S Dothan concert at Harvest Church will feature alumni guest, Alicia Williamson Garcia, lead vocalist from TRUTH 1991. Alicia has been privileged to partner with The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, The Gaither Homecoming, INSP and many more! She is also the author of two books – Hold Nothing Back!: How Sacrificial Obedience Leads to Intimacy with God and A Seeking Heart: Rediscovering True Worship. Mike is a member of the Class of 1976, and serves as a member of the Ouachita Board of Trustees. He was pastor of two Arkansas churches from 1980 to 1991, and twice was elected president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. Mike followed the Lord's leading from the pastorate into the political arena in 1992 when he ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate. After that unsuccessful campaign, an unexpected opportunity for public service arose when the office of Lieutenant Governor became vacant. He was elected by Arkansas voters in a special election in 1993, and was elected to a full term in 1994.

As the congregation sang the hymn, "Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds", I followed Jackie Jarrett down the center aisle as she carried the Holy Bible to the center of the congregation for the Processional Gospel to be read. I said to Jackie, "This is such a great day!" She immediately agreed. I admit I got teary-eyed as I listened to the congregational voices, took in the scent of the Easter lilies and allowed the excitement of the worship bathe over me. We cannot even begin to imagine what Mary Magdalene experienced on that first Easter morning. It came to me later that as important as that one day is - and as much as we might love all that happens on Easter Sunday, we forget that the Easter celebration is every Sunday - not just one day! We need to come to worship with the anticipated excitement of Easter and ready and eager to celebrate the Resurrection.
