The Twilight Saga: New Moon [PG13] Edward and Bella are back for another round of emotionless stare-offs in the new Twilight movie. New Moon, based on the second book in the series by Stephenie Meyer, involves the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) hitting the high road on the human Bella (Kristen Stewart), who is as devastated as someone as devoid of emotion as she is can be. She soon finds solace in the arms of the perpetually shirtless werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Things only get sexy from there. I personally can’t wait for this movie. The first one was insanely bad, but also one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. A positive is that New Moon introduces a villain played by actor Michael Sheen, who is always a welcome addition, but I don’t think he will make up for the wooden-as-all-hell performances that can be guaranteed from Pattinson and Stewart. Questions for Quinn

Q: My family is very religious and I generally attend church every Sunday with my parents. I recently decided to leave my religion, but my parents still insist that I go to church with them every Sunday despite knowing I no longer have that same faith. They’re helping me pay for college and I don’t know how to handle this situation. How can I tell them I don’t want to go to church anymore without being rude, or potentially losing their support?

A: Although you may not feel their particular brand of spirituality anymore, try to consider your parents’ feelings first. They may feel as though the time is a chance when they are able to bond with you, even if you don’t believe in the same things. Just because you go to church with them doesn’t necessarily mean you’re there for the spiri- tuality aspect of it—use it as time to bond with your parents instead of focusing on your own troubles with the religion. It can’t hurt to simply continue going with your parents, can it? You should already be used to spending that time with them, anyway. However, if you are adamant about not going to church, try to explain why you feel so strongly about not attending and hopefully they will be able to understand. Though, continuing to go, even if it is just for them, is more recommended. It doesn’t sound as though it is a particular conflict with you, so just go to support them.

Q: My girlfriend’s parents got divorced months ago but now they are both pressuring her to leave Maryland to live with them. She really likes it here and doesn’t want to leave, but I don’t know how to convince her to simply stay here, since she feels obligated to support at least one of her parents. What should I tell her?

A: This situation may be beyond my scope of advice—it is an overly complex situation that doesn’t even directly involve you. There isn’t too much to say about the situa- tion itself, her parents will most likely continue to pressure her and she’ll eventually need to make a choice by herself on how to handle the situation. All you can really do is try to be supportive of her regardless of how it turns out, even if it is not the outcome you particularly desire. The ending will probably be messy no matter what happens, so don’t expect any resolution to simply fall into place. It will certainly require work, support of each other to get through it intact, if you’re serious together. Comics
