The area where BUT will take place, Valle Formazza, it offers beautiful landscapes and mountains, rich of tracks from the 1.000 m to the lakes and the majestic mountains of High Valle Formazza. Also the relax and wellness is part of the territory thanks to the thermal water of Premia Terme, in the near Valle Antigorio.
A RECORD WATERFALL The major attraction is surely the stunning Cascata del Toce, a waterfall with a jump of 143 m, the highest in Europe. The same region of Antigorio and Formazza, with it´s cros- sing places to Switzerland has represented for years really important commercial ways. During the past years was the principal access to Europe and is rich of history and cultu- re; this area tells the adventure of people, the Walser, who were able to conquer the Alps.The land also offers high qua- lity products as the Bettelmatt Cheese, which is made only here.
ALL THE SPORT YOU WANT The sport is a big player in these territory: during the summer you can go cycling, mtb and downhill, trail and trekking as well as Nordic walking and canyoning; while during the winter everything is snow oriented: alpine and cross country ski, ski mountaineering.

An adrenaline-pumping experience, in a territorial context that has few rivals: Bettelmatt Trail has an extremely spectacular route, built entirely within the Val Formazza.
The Bettelmatt Trail 2021 route, like BSR and BR, will start from Riale, then will touch the 3,000 m of Refuge 3A to arrive, through the Nefelgiù Pass and Lake Vannino, in Canza; from here you will climb towards Riale, the point of arrival, passing through one of the most spectacular points of the entire Alpine arc, the Toce Waterfall. The positive difference of BT is over 3,000 m: a hard but exciting race!

Together with its sister race, Bettelmatt Race, Bettelmatt Sky Race has made the history of trail running and mountain running in the Formazza Valley.
Born in 2007, BSR has a renewed course that takes athletes up to the 3,000 m of the 3A Refuge and the Toce Waterfall. Bettelmatt Sky Race, which starts and finishes in Riale Formazza, presents a varied route that alternates running sections, steep sections and others with dizzying descents. A race that makes you a real trail runner!

GENERAL INFO The Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Formazza Event (Formazza Event Amateur Sports Association), in collabora- tion with the Municipalities of Formazza, organizes on Sa- turday 10 July 2021 the fourth edition of the BETTELMATT TRAIL (BT) and the fourteenth edition of BETTELMATT SKY RACE (BSR), BETTELMATT RACE (BR).
EVENTS The event offers four events that will take place on 10 July 2021 in a natural environment in the area overlooking the Lepontine Alps, in the Municipalities of Formazza. BETTELMATT TRAIL BT- single stage BETTELMATT SKY RACE BSR - single stage BETTELMATT RACE BR- single stage Each race is partly self-sufficient, takes place in a single stage, free speed, and is limited in time.
SELF SUFFICIENCY The self-sufficiency is understood as the ability to be au- tonomous between two aid points, with respect to security, food and equipment, allowing the athlete to adapt to the problems encountered or anticipated such as bad weather, physical pain, injuries etc. When leaving each aid station, runners must have the amount of water and food needed to get to the next aid point. IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ANTICOVID RULES AND TO REDUCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT, THERE WILL BE NO GLASSES AT THE REFRESHMENT POINTS.
EQUIPMENT Participation in the competition implies the commitment to keep the obligatory equipment with them at all times throughout the race. The material listed below is a strict minimum, but must be integrated according to the individ- ual needs. During the opening hours of the race office it will be possi- ble to submit the backpack with the obligatory equipment for inspection. All mandatory equipment may be checked when athletes pick up their race numbers. The race number will not be given to those who fail to show all the required material. Furthermore, spot checks will be carried out during the race and athletes will be disqualified if found without the required equipment. Summary of the regulation
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR BT Crampons; Backpack; Mobile phone (enter the Organization's emergency numbers, keep the phone always on, do not mask the number and leave with a charged battery); Personal glass of at least 15 cl; Water bottles or Camel Bags with a water reserve of at least 1 liter; Headlamp working with spare batteries; Thermal blanket; Whistle; Adhesive elastic bandage suitable for bandaging or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm); Food reserve; Waterproof jacket with hood to face extreme conditions and intense cold in the mountains; Cap, cap or bandana; Warm clothing to face extreme conditions and intense cold in the mountains.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT FOR BT Sticks; Pocket knife; Spare warm clothing essential in case of bad weather conditions or in case of stops due to injury; Gloves; Small economic reserve (20 €).

ENVIRONMENT The race shall take place in a protected natural environ- ment. Participants are therefore required to fully respect the Alpine environment, in particular by not throwing away rubbish, picking flowers or disturbing the wildlife. Anyone found littering along the way shall be disqualified from the race and incur the sanctions foreseen by the mu- nicipal regulations. Summary of the regulation
SAFETY, HEALTHCARE AND CONTROLS Representatives of the organization will be present along the route and aid points connected by radio or telephone with the race direction will be set up along the way. In Riale and along the route there will be ambulances, healthwork- ers, security and means of rescue. All athletes injured or in trouble, can call for help: showing up at a rescue station or aid point calling emergency numbers imprinted on the bib (except points without coverage of the telephone net- work) asking another runner to alert the rescue. Each run- ner must provide assistance to all those in need and inform the rescue. Do not forget that the environmental conditions and the race can make you wait for assistance for longer than expected. Your safety will then depend on the materi- al that you put in your backpack. All competitors must stay on marked trails. The competitor who moves away volun- tarily from marked trails, no longer under the responsibility of the Organization.
MODIFICATIONS TO THE COURSE OR TIME BARRIERS – CANCELLATION OF THE RACE The organization reserves the right to modify at any time and without notice the path or location of the aid and re- freshment points. In case of bad weather (heavy rain, strong risk of storms, poor visibility) the start may be delayed or canceled.
