Every tenth square metre of national territory – corresponding to 510,000 hectares of forestry, 74 of the largest lakes, thousands of kilometres of watercourses and many of the highest peaks in the country – is entrusted to Bundes- forste for sustainable maintenance, protection and management. Nature conservation, the needs of society and economic success are all given the same importance at ÖBf.
