För mer info, kolla in hemsidan www.subkultfestivalen.se. † Spark! Det hela startade med debut EPn “You Where Never Here” (2013), “Covered With Rain” (2014), och “Electric- ity” (2016). Nyligen släpptes singeln “Why do i always feel this way” tillsammans med sin vackra video. † Machinista Synth Pop 2012 startade John (fd. Dissection, tidiga In Flames och Emperor.

Genre/Influences: Dark-electro. Content: The previous work I heard of Larva never totally convinced me. The dark-electronics of this Spanish formation were missing some substance and especially some cohesion. After an album released on Danse Macabre they got back to Advoxya Records releasing their 4th official album to date. This new work remains a pure dark-electro composition, which simply can be defined as ‘hell-electro’. The inspiration clearly comes from a band like Suicide Commando. The originality inside Larva is far to find, but when a band appears to be an efficient emulator of a leading name of the scene I think no one will start to complain. And that’s precisely what this album is all about. From start to finish you easily can recognize the Suicide Commando-input which appears in the dark sequences and icy melodies. Both debut songs are captivating and promising . Some calmer pieces are awakening spirits of the late 90s electro generation, but here again Larva is a quite efficient copier. The 2nd part of the album is a tiny less interesting as the songs now become quieter and more into haunting atmospheres .

Volume 20, Number 2, March 2014 Copyright © 2014 Society for Music Theory Review of S. Alexander Reed, Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music (Oxford, 2013) David Heetderks NOTE: The examples for the (text-only) PDF version of this item are available online at: http://www.mtosmt.org/issues/mto.14.20.2/mto.14.20.2.heetderks.php KEYWORDS: industrial, post punk, electronic music, EBM, electronic body music, futurepop, cut-up, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Laibach, Burroughs Received March 2014 [1] The genre of industrial music is long-lived and, as is evident from comparing Audio Clip 1 and Audio Clip 2, encompasses a broad range of styles. Audio Clip 1, from “Hamburger Lady” (1978) by Throbbing Gristle, is a collage of noisy sounds and a spoken text that has been electronically modified to near indistinguishability. The only suggestion of a beat is provided by a distant thump, perhaps suggesting a heartbeat. The text assaults common notions of good taste: it describes the medical care of a severely burned woman, forcing listeners to confront a figure that civilized society would keep hidden. Audio Clip 2, from “Headhunter” (1988) by Front 242, features a driving dance beat that, in contradistinction to “Hamburger Lady,” is crisp and motoric. The lead singer shouts out the story of a bounty hunter, performing an aggressive form of masculinity. The sounds of industrial music have appeared even in recent years: the harsh and abrasive synthesizer beats in Kanye West’s 2013 album Yeezus have galvanized critics, leading some to describe a masochistic form of listening that is reminiscent of responses to industrial music.

  • Music from the Margins: New Albums Reviewed
Music From The Margins: New Albums Reviewed Music | Bittles’ Magazine: The music column from the end of the world Usually when I am sitting on the street with my placard reading ‘I write about music for a living, please give generously’ people will take pity and throw a few coins in my lap. The other day though, someone took umbrage at my sign, demanding that I follow them home. After a hearty meal of pot noodle and chips he insisted that I watch coverage of the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend Festival. 20 minutes of charmless pop later he switched the TV off, turned towards me and barked ‘You write about this crap?’. In response I asked if I could use his shower, in part so I could use the time to compose myself. By JOHN BITTLES Stepping back into the sparsely decorated living room while also drying my hair I told him this, ‘You don’t find great music by listening to daytime radio, same as you don’t find a soulmate by entering a pub and talking to the loudest person there. The keepers are usually sitting quietly in the corner having sociable drinks with their friends. The same is true with music! You must look in the margins to find the gems.’ In keeping with this ethos, this month I will be raving about some great new music which has been released recently with little noise or fanfare. We have the dirge-ridden techno of Territroy, the deep house grooves of Kapote, some atmospheric bassquakes by Dolenz, the spacious ambiance of Thomas Ragsdale and Synkro, the introspective pop of Maps, and lots more.
