Performance Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 8:30 pm $10-$44 Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) will be making its final D.C.-area appearance this June at Wolf Trap. The contemporary ballet company will be dancing to the music of iconic glam-rockers, Queen, in a performance titled Mercury Half Life and performing The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction, based on stories by Edward Gorey. TMP is run by Trey McIntyre, one of the most sought-after choreographers in the industry today. He has been honored with numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from The National Society of Arts and Letters, two grants for choreography from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Choo-San Goh Award for Choreography. This includes Steve Lukather, the guitarist from Toto; Todd Rundgren, the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Utopia; Gregg Rolie, the keyboardist, vocalist, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer from Santana; Richard Page, the bass guitarist from Mr. Mister; Mark Rivera, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and longtime Billy Joel band mate; and Gregg Bissonette, the Grammy-winning drummer who performed with Toto and Don Henley. Celebrated internationally for their renditions of classic opera, baritone Gianluca Ginobl and tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto have received acclaim for their sensational voices and onstage charm. Since their inception as participants in a popular Italian talent competition, the trio has recorded multiple successful albums, including 2013’s Más Que Amor, and performed alongside the likes of Pia Toscano and Barbara Streisand. Enjoy another year of New Orleans-style music, food, and fun. Come dance to Louisiana’s hottest Cajun, zydeco, and brass bands. This year’s lineup includes: Big Sam’s Funky Nation, proclaimed the “hot purveyors of funk” by the Miami New Times; BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, the first Cajun band to win a Grammy Award; and Stooges Brass Band, a band that blends traditional New Orleans brass music with contemporary hip-hop beats. As always, attendees can grab a bowl of authentic Louisiana gumbo served fresh from concession stands.
