The Akora Khattak Hospital has been expanded, recently, to cater for the ever-growing volume of patients. The Mansehra hospital, which was set up in November 2005, shortly after the earthquake in rented premises, is being replaced by a permanent purpose built state-of-the-art hospital which will open by end of 2008. Despite the law and order problems, our hospitals continue to serve the patients flocking to our hospitals where they receive the same high quality treatment which is the hallmark of LRBT. Our hearts and minds are always open to them and their problems and their struggle for existence. Balochistan, with its rugged terrain, is BalochiPakistan's biggest province but is very stan sparsely populated. This presents serious problems on how to deliver eye-care to its population of 8 million. The problem is compounded by inadequate communications. LRBT has addressed this by establishing hospitals in Quetta & Sibi, the two largest towns and by arranging OPD and cataract surgeries at Gawadar and Turbat once a month. In addition, primary eye-care clinics are also functioning at Mastung and Pishin.
