Seller Insight

This delightful Grade II listed cottage, with original parts dating back to the 16th century and a later extension, occupies a beautiful position down a quite country lane on the edge of the Worcestershire village of Hanbury. Surrounded by fields with glorious views to the village church, the property offers an abundance of character and total peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of life. ‘It was the privacy, tranquillity and wonderful outside space which attracted us to the cottage; it has extremely private gardens which are at their very best when bathed in summer sunshine. The detached cottage is set back from the road with two sets of gates leading to a drive suitable for several cars, it feels safe and secure and there is plenty of space for visitors to park. During our time living here we’ve made quite a few improvements, including changing all of the windows, installing a new boiler and radiators, adding a brand new en-suite to the second bedroom, and doing a total kitchen revamp. We’ve also installed a wood burner in the middle lounge, making it our favourite room – sitting in front of a blazing fire on a winter’s night is a real treat,’ say current owners Pete & Geraldine.

‘The cottage has one neighbour to the right, but we don’t really see him as we tend to keep ourselves to ourselves. The only people we generally see are the walkers stepping out across the various rights of way in the nearby fields which lead to Hanbury Church, The National Trust’s Hanbury Hall & Gardens and local craft centre The Jinney Ring. The village has a lovely local pub, The Vernon Arms, and a good primary school, both within walking distance.’

‘The property has a good amount of space, inside and out, and is great for entertaining, but if you want the vibrancy of town life then , and Droitwich are all very close by. Travel to the south or north is made easy by the proximity to the M5 whilst is a commutable distance.’

‘If you want peace and quiet living here gives you just that, however nothing is too far away so you never feel totally isolated. We very much doubt we’ll find anywhere as peaceful as Grumbleground Cottage and will truly miss living here.’*
