SITUATION REPORT NEPAL FLOOD

Current Situation in Nepal :

Partly cloudy and partly raining in some part of the country. Due to heavy flooding and riverbank erosion 308 families of Holia village have been relocated in Banke district.

Kamaiya people of called two hour strike in Lamki and Tikapur area. ADRA Nepal disaster response team was blocked for one hour in Tikapur, after negotiation Kamaiya people agree to release the team to visit in Jagatpur and Vijaynager Kamaiya settlement.

BANKE DISTRICT

Current situation: Temperature is hot 35-40 degree Celsius, partly cloudy and raining. Boat accident in Rapti River 3 dead body is found 14 people can swim and save their life 12 people is still missing.

ADRA Nepal medical team consisting 2 medical officers, 12 paramedical staff, 1 Lab Technician, 1 Malaria Inspector, and 4 sub health post staff conducting medical camp in Bankatwa VDC. On 3rd of September 07 the team has examined 550 patients. Blood sample has been taken by the malaria Inspector for malaria investigation. During the medical camp a counseling and health education is simultaneously done by the team in local language. No any disease outbreak is reported so far. The local people first time receiving service from mobile health camp.

BARDIYA DISTRICT: Current situation: Cloudy weather and partly raining, temperature 35 degree Celsius.

ADRA Nepal team visited the Neulapur VDCs with Chairman Mr. Bishnu Chaudhary of BASE Bardia. Quick assessments of houses destroyed by flood were assessed. New cloths and used cloths send by Rotary Club of Rudramati and Institute of Cultural Affairs was handed over by Mr. Ashok and Mr. Tatwa Timilsina to Mr. Chaudhary for the purpose of distribution to flood affected people. Mr. Hare Ram Bhattarai chief facilitators of Management Science for Health handed over cash Rs.1000/- to flood victim.

ADRA Nepal NFRI loaded truck was dispatched to Bardiya for distribution.

KAILALI DISTRICT EASTERN NEPAL ADRA Nepal medical team has organized formal meeting with District Health Office to fix the venue of mobile health camp. A medical camp conducted by ADRA Nepal in coordination with DHO and Padma Hospital of Atariya and Backward Society Education held in Sandepani Village and 271 persons were treated no major outbreak is noticed. ADRA Nepal disaster response coordinator visited the various Kamaiya settlements in Vijaypur, Jidhi Nagar and Santosh Nagar village. The ADRA Team found to address the NFI and rehabilitation for house destroyed by rain and flood.

NON FOOD ITEM DISTRIBUTION ADRA’s non food items (Tarpaulin, Blanket, Medicated Mosquito net, Floor mat) is arrived and packed ready to delivery to the affected people in Udayapur, Banke and Bardia district for 300 families. A full load truck is dispatched to Bardia district for distribution in coordination with BASE Bardia and Redcross Bardia chaptrer.

Tharu Kamaiya of Tikapur Kailali called strike, they said government is not listening their voice they are living with measurable life and relief assistance has been reached to them. ADRA disaster coordinator with BASE staff reached there and requests them to visit their camp after negotiation they allow ADRA vehicle to go to the village for assessment.
