LIFEGUARD TRAINING AQUATIC FITNESS CLASSES American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course Passes are needed to participate in Aquatic Fitness classes. Celebrating 40 Years… Did You Know? Until 1980, all recreational services for James City County residents were provided by the City of Williamsburg. In 1980, Parks & Recreation began a pilot summer playground program at Carriage Road Mini Park, Forest Glen Mini Park and Mooretown Road Mini Park. In 1981, the Recreation Office was created based on the success of the pilot programs. The program expanded in 1982 to include Grove and Norge playground sites. Details beginning on Page 7.

REC Connect Before & After School and Summer Camps A refund will be issued if there is a change of payment status or no services were rendered due to injury, illness or family emergency. Before & After School is a flat rate fee program and a refund will only be issued if a child misses the full week due to injury, illness or family emergency. No documentation required. DISCOUNT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM All James City County and Williamsburg residents may apply for discounts on many department offerings including the Before & After School Program and passes to the James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center. Discounts also include some Parks & Recreation community programs available at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex (WISC) and Williamsburg’s Quarterpath Park facility. Program discounts – 20%, 50% or 75% – are determined by the annual gross income before taxes and number of residents in a household. Income is defined as any money or cash equivalents received through work or through investments including, but not limited to, earnings, salary, pay, wages, goods or services, or from rents, capital interest or profits. Residents who qualify for the Social Services Food Stamp program and earn an income are automatically eligible; their application must include proof of public assistance - Food Stamps, SNAP Notice of Action Form, and any changes in SNAP benefits.
