1416351 Customer: The 07:35 left over 6 minutes early. Yesterday the bus left over 5 minutes early. Response: No response required 1428677 Customer: Good morning I am a regular user of this route, please explain why the 07:02 Bus at Felthambrook Way(TW13) towards Hatton Cross did not run this morning, I and many others rely on this service to start getting to work. My observations are that these cancellations happen far too frequently, this is not acceptable particularly in the peak times when these buses are heavily used. Also despite recently "tinkering" with the timetable which has made life more difficult for the drivers concerned still DO NOT run to time often enough. I look forward to your response, thank you. Response: Dear Mr ROUTE H25 Thank you for contacting us about this service. I can understand your frustration and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused to you. We are totally committed to providing a first class bus network for our passengers and welcome any comments that will help us to improve our services. Sometimes if the traffic is unexpectedly busy or the operator is experiencing staff shortage, the buses can be delayed or services can be missed out. This can lead to a longer wait than usual for a bus to arrive. You will be pleased to know that we are always working with our operators to reduce the impact of these factors on the bus schedules. I have also contacted Abellio London who operate the H25 for us. They have investigated the late running of the 07:02 bus towards Hatton Cross and have reported that due to a gas leak and roadworks at Feltham Station Bridge where Temporary traffic lights were in operation it was necessary to curtail the 7:02 service and run it light to Hatton Cross in order to ensure that the service was balanced.

  • Records of Gardening, Parks and Open Spaces in LMA
RESEARCH GUIDE 56 - Records of gardening, parks and open spaces in LMA CONTENTS Introduction Private Gardens Public Gardens Institutional gardens Amateur Gardens Council records Prints, maps and photographs Finding aids Records Inherited records Introduction London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) holds a variety of records relating to gardening and horticulture in the Greater London area. Foremost amongst these are the records of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, one of the City Livery Companies. There is a reference to an organisation of gardeners as early as 1345. By the time of the granting of the Company's first charter in 1605, it was fully in control of its trade. By the mid 19th century the Company was in abeyance, but it revived in the 1890s. It received its grant of arms in 1905. In recent years, the Company has been notable for running a number of campaigns and competitions in the City of London. It also continues the tradition of providing bouquets and flowers for members of the Royal family and for Royal occasions. The archives held at LMA date from 1605, but early membership records are patchy, and court minutes do not begin until the second half of the 18th century. The archive is not large, but it is notable for a series of scrapbooks recording the history of the company since 1345, begun by the company in 1934 and continuing to the present day. The company's collection of printed books is deposited at Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, London EC2V 7HH. Private Gardens Among the early records of horticulture are seventeenth-century probate inventories of gardeners in Westminster and Middlesex in the records of the church courts.

  • The Great Western Railway and the Celebration of Englishness
THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY AND THE CELEBRATION OF ENGLISHNESS D.Phil. RAILWAY STUDIES I.R.S. OCTOBER 2000 THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY AND THE CELEBRATION OF ENGLISHNESS ALAN DAVID BENNETT M.A. D.Phil. RAILWAY STUDIES UNIVERSITY OF YORK INSTITUTE OF RAILWAY STUDIES OCTOBER 2000 ABSTRACT This thesis identifies the literary work of the Great Western Railway as marking a significant contribution to the discourse of cultural representation over the first four decades of the twentieth century and particularly so for the inter-war era. The compa- ny's work is considered in the context of definitive and invariably complex cultural per- spectives of its day, as mediated through the examination of the primary literature, com- pany works and other related sources, together with the historiographical focus of latter- day analysis. G.W.R. literary perspectives - historical, political, commercial-industrial and aesthetic - are thus compared and contrasted with both rival and convergent repre- sentations and contextualised within the process of historical development and ideolog- ical differentiations. Within this perspective of inter-war society, the G.W.R. literature is considered according to four principal themes: the rural-traditional representation and related his- torical-cultural identification in the perceived sense of inheritance and providential mis- sion; the company's extensive industrial interests, wherein regional, national and inter- national perspectives engaged a commercial-cultural construction of Empire; the 'Ocean Coast' imagery - the cultural formulation of the seashore in terms of a taxonomy of landscapes and resorts according to the structural principles of protocol, expectation and clientele and, finally, that of Anglo-Saxon-Celtic cultural characterisations with its agenda of ethnicity and gender, central in the context of this work to the definition of Englishness and community.

Appendix 1 Ealing Heritage Strategy Draft 2010 - 2015 1 Contents 1. Introduction 2. Ealing’s Heritage 3. National and local context 4. Ealing’s Heritage: issues and opportunities 5. A new vision for Ealing’s Heritage, Objectives & Delivery Plan 2 1. Introduction 1.1 Ealing has a rich and deep built, natural and material heritage highly valued by residents. As with most councils responsibility for managing and promoting the borough’s heritage is divided amongst council departments. The Executive Director for Environment and Customer Services is responsible for the strategic lead for heritage development and is responsible for the management of important built, natural and material heritage assets. There are further responsibilities including planning, conservation, regeneration and ownership of some heritage assets which sit across the council. 1.2 The development of a sustainable future for key heritage assets has become a higher priority for the council over recent years and it is now necessary to adopt a strategic approach to this area of activity. The heritage strategy is intended to have the following benefits: a framework for maximising investment in Ealing’s heritage set a direction and define priorities within and between heritage initiatives and reconcile competing demands inform the management of the Council’s assets, detailed service plans and the work of individual officers, departments and other agencies encourage innovation and improved partnership working act as a lever and rationale for gaining funding from external agencies and partners demonstrate links with the long term vision for Ealing, central government agendas and with strategies of national and regional agencies 1.3 There are many definitions of heritage in the public domain including built, natural and material elements.
